Yes - I have a little book with sleeve protector pages that someone gave me. I put a picture of each quilt in, along with a description of the pattern, fabrics, who it was for, etc. I had not thought about putting in machine settings, etc. I might start doing that, too. Good idea.

I don't either, but I sure wish I would have. I do have pictures of each one saved on my computer.

I have a sketchbook that I design my quilts in...measurements ,fabrics,colors,when started ,when finished,who it was made for,etc. I also keep an album of all the projects and their recipients! It's for my old age.....so I can look back and remember all the pleasure it gave me to make them!

This might sound weird but I make the notations on my sewing machine or make a sample of the stitch and tape it to the wall in the sewing room.....It helps me later when I need something.

I took a serger class a couple of year ago after purchasing a used one from CL. The instructor was excellent. One of the points she stressed over and over, was to write down the various settings for different applications. Provided a 'cheat sheet' of sorts for the various typical serger techniuques; rolled hems, t-shirt edges; pillow cases, etc. I would think the same principle would be invaluable to those that do FMQ, particularly.

I need to do this because like others I make notes everywhere especially when planning a quilt. Have the book just need to remember I have it!!! lol

NJ Quilter...thanks that is exactly what I meant. I find that depending on the material or the thread, I'm having to adjust tension, use a different needle, adjust my bobbin tension, adjust my pressure-foot pressure, and the list seems to go on. I find myself sitting down and thinking, "OK...now what did I do last time?" Of course, I'm fairly new to FMQ so maybe this becomes second nature after awhile. I certainly hope so.

But for now, I'm still in the 'what do I need to do for this project' stage. I thought maybe someone had a cheat sheet form for such a thing that I could beg/borrow. If not, I'll just have to come up with my own. :(

BTW, I loved reading how everyone kept records of their quilts; I especially enjoyed the picture of the memory book page and loved the story component idea as well.
