Do You Know Anything About the BabyLock Audrey?
 

Thanks for your thoughts about a lightweight sewing machine!!
I am taking all the suggestions under consideration.

I also want to ask you about the BabyLock Audrey.
I know it's a little older, though not much.
A lady in my area has her's for sale.
Said she bought it is 2009 and has hardly used it.
She wants $320. I wonder what it sold for new.

I can buy a NEW Baby Lock Rachel for $429 at the LQS & told her (in a text).
She said that she will consider re-thinking her price.

Not sure I want to spent this amount at all.
I'm not to give the Janome and Brother a look, based on your suggestions.
I really just want something that I can haul to class & guild for piecing and top-stitching.

If you know much about the BL Audrey, please fill me in!
And if you could tell me something about the price too, that would be great.

Check ebay for closed auctions on the model you're looking for. At least that will give you a general price guideline.

Also, have you check reviews at http://www.patternreview.com? To see older reviews, you need to establish an ID and login. Go to "sergers/sm" and Babylock, then scan down the list until you find the Audrey. These are all user reviews, and they often include the purchase price, date purchased, etc. in the review.

A friend at our quilting group gave me her BabyLock Audrey because she didn't like it.
The Audry does have a lot of stitches. Note: many people have had tension problems. You need to be sure the thread comes down on the right side of the tension part.
I use it at quilting group; but a majority of our group have the Janome Jem Gold.
The Jem Gold is a mechanical machine. Some have had theirs for 12 years with no problems.
I teach sewing for an afterschool program for 9 year olds to adults. We have purchased 30 Janome Jem Golds over the past 3 years from Amazon for $199 with free shipping. The kids/adults love them as they are easy to use. The only drawback is not a lot of "fancy" stitches. We have other donated machines which we can use for that.
If I were buying a machine to haul around, I'd get the Janome Jem Gold.

Patternreview.com has 3 reviews for the Audrey. The most recent states she paid $300. So I would think $320 would be too much for a used machine.

I have a Baby Lock Audrey and love it. I bought it new at a local dealer about 4 years ago for $399 I think, on sale. So unless it is like new, $320 sounds a little high for a used machine. I would think $250 would be a fair price. I use mine for all piecing, and have quilted several baby quilts on it without any problems. It is lightweight, easy and smooth to operate. It does have several design stitches, but I pretty well only use the straight stitching. Just took mine in for servicing after 3 years of light use--no problems with it at all.

I had a bablock xscape- an older Audrey- which i paid $325 for, was a nice machine but gave it to my grnddaughter when my dh bought me a fw to take to class. My opinion is that $320 is too much for it. I liked it for class but not for my main machine.

I am also looking at the Audrey and believe it retails for $399 brand new. I would say her price is too high for a pre loved machine. JMHO

wow. I sell BL Audrey's for less than what she's asking -- every day -- brand new! It's a good little travel machine. Not meant for heavy duty use but super for classes, etc. message me if you want more info on it or other light weight portables.
