Do you know this Block

I saw Jenny Doan give a brief tutorial a couple weeks ago and looked so easy. All you do is take a white layer cake and a colored layer cake put them together and cut 2 1/2 inches , then turn the block and cut in 2 1/2 inches again until you have done this on all 4 sides. This makes 2 blocks. I have been trying to find that tutorial again but haven't yet. I forgot to bookmark it. Does anyone recognize the block. I did these from memory, just not sure if I did it right.

I haven't seen it. Yours make a beautiful quilt block. I would just keep on making them and put them together.
Looks great to me.

It sounds like the disappearing 4 patch, she had a video for it.

It has more than one name, one of them is sheepfold. I've made it as a controlled scrappy.

Thanks for all the help.

Thanks so much Ms Kay, I was beginning to wonder if I had seen this video in my dreams. LOL Glad to know I'm not losing my mind.

In E. Burns's book it is part of an Irish chain. It probably has its own name somewhere ...

There are many names for this block, I know it as Puss in the Corners. When I was first learning to quilt I watched an episode with Kaye Wood, who strip pieced the blocks, making a pretty baby quilt; she may even have it on You Tube or her website. You can always check with quilterscache.com.

I think you are asking about this block....it is what you are describing about the two layer cakes...

I just went to Missouri Star and searched for Layer Cake quilts. You can search by tags on the right side under the tool bar..it says 'Latest Comments Tags" just click on tags.
