Missouri quilt has a tutorial, it's called x's and o's and also she does a lattice work quilt that looks similar

I am struck by the sentiment of the writer when she says the following:
"If you're lucky enough to have a shop in your area as nice as this one, I hope you visit it often, it's a treat that should not be taken for granted." And purchase from them. sandy |
Thanks so much for the pictures. Great looking quilt.

Gorgeous quilt from a super easy block...its been on my to do list for years and never seem to get to it. :( The block name is Indian Hatchet and can be paper pieced for a faster method than drawing lines or ironing tons of squares in half.

Look at the wonderful border they added to the pattern. Carrie thought they used the corners cut off the center blocks to make that border, how clever is that! |
X's & O's?

Do you know if there is a name for the basic block that is used in this quilt? I'm sure Quilter's Cache or a site like that would have a name for this block but I don't where to start looking. I know the quilt is identified as "American Pie" and is in one of Ms. Rosies older quilt books, however I think the basic block is probably a well know 30's block????
It is the 3rd and 4th pictures down in the blog post. http://www.cupcakesndaisies.com/2011...-quilt-co.html |
Waited until I could locate my template cutting tool to answer your question. I know this pattern as the Hatchet Block. Rita Fishel designed a tool for Creative Grids for cutting these. 5" squares work well when using a 3 1/2" square cut diagonally for the white corners. Perhaps check out the website for Creative Grids. This pattern is on my bucket list.

The border looks like they used the bonus triangles from making the main blocks, sewn together.

I have made one and seen it called X's & O's or Hugs & Kisses.
