Do you pre-wash painters' canvas drop cloths?

There is another post in the pictures section of a really nice rug someone made using one of these. Others have posted about using it for bags. Do you pre-wash it? Does it really wrinkle or shrink? Thanks
Pat

I have washed drop cloths and they do wrinkle, I don't know for sure if they shrink but I think they do.

If you intend to wash your project once its complete( or ever in its life span) ... wash the canvas prior to construction .

I make bags and do not pre-wash. I have never washed a completed bag and haven't heard of any of my gift bags being washed either, so I guess I don't know. I will say they don't seem to soil easily. I made a bag of white denim and it got dirty really quickly. I think the denim has a softer finish.
