Hello everyone. I've been away for a while, but I'm back.

Are you a good pattern dective!! Would really like to make this project as a gift for a stitching friend of mine. Her birthday is soon. Does anyone recognize this little bag pattern? If so, would you let me know so I can buy it. I'm wondering if it's a kit or something? I've been looking for it for a few days without success. . I do like the little cross stitched pattern on it too. Any help that anyone can give, would be really appreciated.

It is French, sold as a kit. The bag is premade and you do the stitching through the open seamed bottom, then close up the seam. Threads and needle are not included, just the pattern, bag and color chart. Expensive, around $31 USD w/o shipping.

You are great!. thanks for the link. It's a bit expensive and I probably wouldn't get it in time. But I think I will adapt another small bag pattern and make one like it. Thanks so much for solving the mystery...

yes, good idea. That's what I'm going to do. Now I'm researching nice little x-stitch designs to adorn the aida cloth.

What a beautiful bag- wish it was available here. I spent 20 minutes perusing many of the other bag patterns and want to make them all.

Here is a link to another great site. If you sign up for the newsletter, you can save any of the patterns on the site, no chance of ever losing them that way.

You can get the kit from www.frenchneedle.com for $33 and they are in the U.S. If you order $50 there is free shipping.

Thanks for the suggestion. That looks exactly like the same shape of the bag!!! Yes, I think my LQS carries that pattern. Thanks again for the suggestion.

Thanks for the US link. That should be a quicker turn-around time shipping-wise. I looked everywhere on the site but couldn't find the kit pictured above. I saw lots of other nice things though on the site.

At this web address you can download this booklet. It contains (among others) a tute on making a simple zippered bag. I have made a few of them. It can be made any size and could be made with an embroidered strip like that pattern shows. There are tons of patterns on this site for just about anything you want to sew.

How about these from Robin Gallagher?

What an adorable sewing bag! I am glad you found the source for it and I am sure your friend will just love getting it for her birthday.

I have many finished cross stitch as unfinished objects that would adapt for something like this. What a great idea.

If you are looking for something to put sewing/embroidery items in, I have done the Lazy Girl "perfect pouches" with batting so I can stick my embroidery needles into the lining. Also one I am getting ready to make is from This & That called"clutter bug". Hope some of these great ideas work for you!
