Do you recognize this pattern?

I saw this beautiful quilt with white background and blue, green, gold and burgandy at a small show about two weeks ago. Unfortunately, I failed to identify either the quilter or the pattern. The workmanship was outstanding. Thank you for your assistance.

It is commonly known as Star Spin. Use this board's search feature and you will see many examples and discussions.

it is a card trick block- put together to create the 'star spin' quilt- often blocks of one name are used to create quilts with different names-
like a sunshine & shadows quilt made of log-cabin blocks....the card trick block can be made into a number of different layouts....like the star spin one.

Also card trick is traditionally only 4 cards, while this is 8.

Thank you, each and every person who commented. :-) I will put this one my wishful list.....
Now, I can properly label the picture. Actually, the picture I took doesn't do it justice. The workmanship was superb!

I have also seen it done in a tablerunner called Strip Tease.

Just finished the Strata Star table topper

Easiest pattern to make. You make log cabin blocks and cut them corner to corner and the smaller sections are from the same size log cabin block only cut corner to corner twice..... Bought the pattern some time ago and sold it after I read the directions. Never did make it.....

I think "card trick" has just 4 solid colored squares.

I to always liked that pattern bought it years ago but have never made it still in my stash of patterns someplace

I, too, thought it was card trick. Whatever, it's pretty!

A free tutorial was posted on the quilting board a while ago called my autumn spin star tutorial.
If you just Google that it comes up. That may give you the confidence to try it without buying a pattern
but if not, Stitchin' Heaven's pattern for $6.95 is a good deal since patterns seem to have risen to $9
these days. Good luck and thank you for posting because I forgot how much I liked that pattern
and your quilter made it so much more dramatic with his/her color choices. - Judy

This pattern is absolutely beautiful. Her/his color choices are exactly my taste. I already ordered the pattern and am trying to copy a picture of the quilt but it just keeps enlarging....darn! Anyone know how to do this without getting it so big that it looses it's context??? I want to add this to my bucket list!

crtwelvecats 07-08-2012 01:05 PM

it is the star spin pattern. a bunch are on this site if you put star spin up in the right corner for advance search. Some one here even did a tutorial on it. it should be there too. have fun. . The people on this site did wonderful ones.
