After two weeks of non stop projects (pics tomorrow) I rewarded myself with an order to Connecting Threads. Mostly thread and some more batting but i did get free shipping! So why do i sit here now feeling guilty? It must be sewers remorse. But i will use all that i ordered so it's okay isn't it? LOL

AFQSinc 10-04-2011 04:45 PM

I definitely reward myself. But usually it is WITH my sewing and ordering. No need to feel guilty at all!

quilter68 10-04-2011 04:48 PM

I am eating Cheetos right now. That is my reward!

erstan947 10-04-2011 04:52 PM

Eating and quilting are my only 2 vices. I refuse to feel guilty when I place an order. Enjoy waiting for the delivery:)

BellaBoo 10-04-2011 04:57 PM

DH and I feel what we wanted came before what the kids wanted but not before what they needed so I have no guilt at all treating myself when I can.

ellenmg 10-04-2011 05:04 PM

Don't even think about feeling guilty!!!!! I do that too, and sometimes, when I mess up a project or get frustrated with one, I need a little retail therapy..Always helps me! Speaking of which....My latest quilt for my son is pieced, pinned, and pinned WRONG..crap, crap, crap.....gee, what will I buy now????? batiks, thread..oh what to do?

dd 10-04-2011 05:21 PM

It's not like you are buying something you won't use or something that's just wrong to have. Enjoy your order and the fun you will have using it.

smcfadden 10-04-2011 05:32 PM

If you know you're going to use it, and it definitely sounds like you will, don't feel guilty. I think it's definitely a thing many of us women deal with - guilt. I'm feeling guilty because I'm sick and had to tell a friend I couldn't keep a commitment for tomorrow night. It's crazy and a waste of time.

You asked! It's certainly okay with me!! You deserve it.

Why would you feel guilty? You're replenishing your supplies that were actually used up. That's commendable, not wasteful. The ones who need to feel guilty (all of us sometimes) that order more than we need and just add to the already overloaded supplies. Have some ice cream and enjoy the time off while you wait for your shipment.

romanojg 10-05-2011 04:50 AM

What's life if you can't reward yourself? I just bought myself the Viking Ruby because I deserve it. One of my daughter's friends once commented to me in a grocery store when I went to buy proscuitto that it was expensive. I told him he was looking at it all wrong; that when I want to buy something I only asked two questions first can I afford it and the second am I worth it; the answer to the second question is ALWAYS "YES". If we don't think we are worth rewards why would anyone else.

Caroline S 10-05-2011 05:15 AM

GUILT? You have come to the right place to affirm that you should NOT feel guilty. I don't think that there are many of us feel guilty, especially since most of our quilty projects are done for others. No guilt here when it comes to my quilting.

sguillot 10-05-2011 05:15 AM

I definately reward myself but it just depends on the mood I'm in at the time. If I just happen(Yea right) to be close to the quilt shop I head for the sale room. If I don't find anything there I look until something just jumps out at me or look on the interney or catalog for something I can't live with out.

Sierra 10-05-2011 06:21 AM

Right now I'm looking forward to a reward, desperately! And when the monster I'm working on is done..... ooooh, that will be my reward!!!! Then I can do something else for a while (I rarely work on more than one quilt at a time). I absolutely love the quilt I'm doing now (it's at my dh's suggestion and for him) but I want it to be perfect, and I'm not a perfect quilter!

The idea of new fabric, new ruler, whatever, or even the chocolate all sound deserved to me! Actually dh rewards me every time we go near a quilt store. He's a "pusher".

Julie in NM 10-05-2011 06:26 AM

I reward myself too. DH loves to buy from Ebay...linen shirts and designer shoes dirt cheap. So when he hits 50.00 which is probably 5 shirts and 3 pairs of shoes, off I go to either JAs on Connecting threads. He shops I shop both of us are happy.

klarina 10-05-2011 06:47 AM

Guilt is something so unnecessary. It weights you down. Ditch the guilt. You deserve your reward after a job well done!

HomespunHandmaiden 10-05-2011 06:49 AM

It's probably good that I can't afford to reward myself with fabric all the time lol...every time I would buy fabric I would want to start a new project...just what I need lol

How can you feel bad about buying needed SUPPLIES!

BellaBoo 10-05-2011 06:52 AM

I just pre ordered the Kindle Fire with a pretty sleeve to put it in. Now I have to start a new quilt project to get done before it arrives. My rewards are more like dessert first. LOL.

graciemae 10-05-2011 08:25 AM

I do the same thing. I ALWAYS feel quilty if I buy myself something. However, we have to remember that we work very hard for our families and we deserve it!

j 10-05-2011 08:58 AM

The fact that I accomplish anything is reward enough for me. - J.

purrfectquilts 10-05-2011 11:28 AM

Depends on what I am rewarding for !! Right now, I am looking forward to a bottle of flavored water...and a rest...reward for working without stop all day so far. LOL

Use your fabric and enjoy it. It is all worth it!

vjw65 10-05-2011 11:30 AM

I think that is more like a biz expense
a reward is a box of Godiva

I have discovered that guilt, just like grudges are too heavy to carry around, so just drop them right away and as Vann said on REBA --- I've got one word for ya, let-it-go. Doesn't sound like one word unless you say it fast like Vann --- letigo! By the way it smiled up my day to see your kitties in the sink. I used to have some who napped in the sink, too.

mjsylvstr 10-06-2011 04:52 AM

I also just ordered from CT.....love when batting is on sale.and then free shipping to boot......

only thing wrong, I ordered 1/2 yard too little on two of the fabrics...so I had to reorder a few days later......

and of course I didn't stop at just those two pieces of fabric.....

they do love me !!!!!!

ssgramma 10-06-2011 04:54 AM

Don't feel guilty. Retail therapy is good for the country making you a Patriot!

Isn't that why chocolate was invented?! LOL!!

MargeD 10-06-2011 01:18 PM

Of course it's OK to reward yourself, in fact, it's a moral imperative. I think women too often put themselves last, and that's wrong. I gave up a lot for my kids, I've given up a lot for my husband (long story), but at this stage in my life, I feel I have earned the right for rewards, without justification or explanation. Quilting is my main outlet for creativity and sanity, so it's not a need or want, it's something I do for me to keep my sanity - my husband is on disability and I have been unable to find work, so sewing keeps me sane (although there are others that might say I never was sane - oh well).

SuziC 10-06-2011 03:49 PM

I like that Marge....spending for health reasons!!! LOL
NO MORE GUILT FOR ME.....yup, i feel better now
