Today's the 20th and my dining room table still has my current project on it. Need to finish that project today and then clean up that room tomorrow AND decorate it for Christmas. We will be eating Christmas Eve dinner with our kids and grandkids in there. And then I won't be able to use it till after 12/28 since it's our year to host hubby's brothers and their families.

I don't put it away but I do make sure it is neat and clean. I don't do as much sewing this week but do keep busy doing hand work.

This has been an interesting thread; thanks for sharing!
I'm lucky to have a sewing room. So, I just close the door on my mess, lol.

Sometimes during the hustle-bustle of the holidays, it is refreshing to just escape for a few minutes and sew alone.

I tend to work on one project at a time, and clean up everything when it's done to get a fresh start on the next one.

since i have a dedicated sewing room my *stuff* is always available if i feel like sewing :)
since hubby is generally pretty good about stuffing my stocking with great new notions/gadgets/goodies chances are sometime Christmas day i will be in my room working on something...out of the 365 days in a year i probably sew 350 of them (sometimes i skip a day on vacation-while traveling) i am pretty much always working on something :) either a hand project or a machine one...or even a pad of graph paper & box of colored pencils

hperttula123 12-20-2011 03:36 PM

nope..never put it away for anything. I have a separate room for all my sewing.

Trish88 12-20-2011 04:21 PM

I could never put my sewing machine away........I have a spare bedroom that is now my sewing room but I dont let it get out of hand and have to close the door......I usually clean up after a project or atleast make the room presentable.....I clean once a month taking things off the cutting table and where my sewing machine sits...the worst thing for a sewing machine is dust so make sure you dust frequently.....and clean your machine often its amazing how much dust forms from fabric.....I always keep the thought out of sight out of mind.......so I love seeing my machine daily even if its just a practice piece that I work on......Iam always thinking what can I sew next lol......I love sewing and fabrics........Merry Xmas to everyone........Trish :)

We have a spare room that my husband and I share, he has his drawing and painting and art supplies on one side of the room, and I have the other side of the room for my quilting/sewing/etc. We always keep it kind of picked up, kind of cluttered. I tell people if they go in that room they go at their own risk. LOL When little ones are about we close the door of course.

Right now I use my dining room table for sewing, and I usually just put everything in a corner when I need my table. This week we just got back from vacation, so I will not be sewing until after Christmas. Sew sad, but it has to be.MERRY CHRISTMAS VERYONE, AND GOD BLESS.

i never put my stuff away because i have a sewing room, all i would need to do is close the door!! but i am in there every chance i get !!!

I live in small 1 BR and turned my BR into sewing studio and LR into living as efficiency. But moved the sewing machine into LR so I could sew & watch TV at same time. Then family got me a new day bed and had to clear out room so bed could be set up. Man, that sure disrupted my sewing but was so grateful for the new bed. I just love it. Now, I'm doing catch up so projects will be finished by Sat am. I made fleece blankets for birthday gifts and as I had room torn up I just did fancy rotary cut on edges instead of sewing on binding and they loved them. They actually preferred the edges w/o binding. Go figure. Here I thought it looked unfinished.

Actually, I brought my sewing out!!!! I don't have a separate room or area for my sewing, I have to use the kitchen. This week my DH and oldest daughter went on a trip so it's just me and my youngest. So we moved the table around, set up both our machines (she's 11 and loves piecing) and have spent the last 3 days sewing whenever we felt like it. With it all set up it's not a big chore to drag stuff out. Its been great!

Annaquilts 12-20-2011 09:59 PM

No, I need to get Christmas gifts quilted and I need the stress releive that quilting provides me. I just spend 2 1/2 days making about 800 tamales.

Painiacs 12-20-2011 10:32 PM

I don't "put it away," but I haven't been able to work on anything. Some of the baking has been done and some babysitting. With school out, the working mommies need help with the little kiddos. One was enfolled in a Christmas camp at her school, but the little one isn't old enough to go. Grandmothers and great -grandmother are sharing him next week. He's a joy to keep. The biggest problem is getting him to take a nap so I can rest. LOL

No, I'd be lost without my sewing machine being so handy. I have a separate sewing room, and it's ready to go at all times. LOL
