I started quilting when I was 12 with my grandma and I'm 56 now. I'm nowhere near tired of quilting. Even if I wasn't doing it for the extra money I'd still be doing it. The love of quilting is just part of me,that's the only way to describe it.

Since I was a small child, I have always done some kind of handwork, mostly knitting, crocheting, calligraphy, painting, drawing, bead-making, cross stitching, sewing clothing and household items, and quilting. I pray I always am physically able to work with my hands! I never tire of being able to imagine a project and then make it come to life! Quilting seems to take the longest of all the crafty things I do or have done, but it is most satisfying to me at the same time.

I found thatwhn I quit working I culdn't afford my fabric habit. So I sub at the schools in our little town and care for a 92 yr old lady 2 nites a week to suppore my habit.

Sometimes I overload myself and get tired of it all. Then I just back away and find something else to do for a while... lots of good books out there. After a while I find I'm itching to get back to the sewing machine. I think we always need a break from things if we get too overwhelmed.

Hi, I live in MN so do not quilt in summer, must be outside when there is no snow, so garden and golf in summer and go crazy quilting in the winter, to do everything I think about in summer.

The really detailed tops that seem to take forever i love the challenge of those but i also need to feel the satisfaction of knowing i finished something or i start feeling like im not getting anywhere, so i throw in a few cheater or whole cloth tops just for fun and a quick fix of Wahoo Im done.

I hope not. I think the secret is to find a happy balance with all things in life.

Hi, I knit and crochet also. Always have something to work on when I go to my recliner after sewing most of the day. I love quilting, and do so just about every day, but I get tired or worn out by the end of the day. I live alone with my maltese, in a 4 bedroom double wide. I have a sewing room and a quilting (hand quilting frame) room. The extra bedroom, other than my bedroom, is computer and single bed room for company, sort of like a guest room. Happy Holidays!! I just love this Quilting Boad site!!

It is either in your blood or it's not. I have sewn since I was about
10, then I did clothes, and my dearest Mother in Law introduced me to quilting in the 80's, and have been possessed since. I was out of work for a time also, but I sewed as much as I could, reorganized my room, then found stuff I forgot I had and off again was sewing. Serious sewers never would even ask that question. |

I used to knit and crochet but I have almost put that totally down for quilting. I couldn't see myself ever getting tired of quilting. What about you?
