I use the closed one that came with my Juki machine. Love it.

I use a closed toe "R' embroidery foot to FMQ on my Husq
|
I have 8 or 10 different types of darning/embroidery feet, from a little $3 plastic and metal foot to the $40 Juki foot on my industrial machine to the $85 vintage embroidery foot for my 401. I have the Big Foot, a "stripping" foot that was made for only some brands of the old Singers, a couple of vintage feet, and a few modern feet.
So which one do I use? It's the little $3.00 foot. I thought it would break right away and that I'd have to replace it every other quilt or so, so I bought several. So far, I'm still on the same foot. It's like the Energizer Bunny for longevity. Great visibility and only the slight inconvenience of the closed toe loop. Sew-Classic.com carries them: http://shop.sew-classic.com/Low-Shan...t-SCF55417.htm Honest, you can't beat this little nothing looking foot. :) |

Write to Leah and ask her for her advice. She is a wonderful and sweet lady and will be happy to help you with suggestions. She writes back very soon.

I use both depending on what I am doing. Open if I want to see details and follow lines. Closed if I am just meandering.

I like open toe, I can see what i am doing with that unlike the closed one.

I have a juki and use the regular 1/4 foot that came with it.

I use the darning/quilting foot that came w/ my machine. It was clear plastic, closed. I had the front clipped out because I couldn't see where I was going...what an improvement!
