I love plaids!!! In fact, right now a group I'm in is doing a half-square triangle swap with plaids and muslin and I know when the quilts get put together it's going to look terrific.

I have but used them but it seems that the print quality is not always very good. I use them only if I can hold them in my hand to really see if the print is good, and on grain. This is because I do alot of small scale projects and it really shows up when the print of the plaid is not straight. It makes it appear as though the seam is not accuarate. Stripes can do the same thing.
Homespuns are better than printed plaids , but the looser weave , makes it a bit problematic with raveling .

I use them. They look great with florals.

I find them hard to use, I've fussy-cut them to get an exact balance, it depends on the plaid whether yo can do that or not. I like plaid for sashing; very occasionally an even plaid can work evenly in sashing.

I avoid them like the plague LOL
I don't like the idea of having to match them or worry about the lines not being perfectly straight

I never worry about the plaid running straight. I think it adds to the quaintness of the quilt.

I am currently making a double sawtooth star quilt using
shirting prints and woven plaids for my son.
I only have 5 more blocks to piece.
Roberta Horton(well known quilter) says its okay if your plaids aren't cut perfectly straight. She calls it casually off grain, it looks good and is lots easier.

Some beautiful plads out there. Just picked up a Christmas one. Have used them sparingly - Mainly in a memory quilt for a man from men's shirts.

I love plaids but don't use them often because I'm OCD about them being cut perfectly straight and facing the right way!!

Mary, just love your turning twenty homespun, it is fabulous, just my kind of quilt!
