Do you use "Space Bags" for your quilting
 

You know those marvelouse bags you see on TV.....
do you use them for like poly batting....fleece....

I can not get mine to hold the vacuum...for the life of me.

When I pull my vacuum hose out of the space bag, I put a strip of duct tape across the opening for additional closure power. Then they seem to hold the vacuum inside just fine.

I will admit that I buy the less pricey ones that you just burp. I sit on them to get the air out and then zip them before I get up. They work just as well and are cheaper.

I love mine... even use them when we travel, especially when we go camping... towels, pillows, clothing, bedding... you name it, I spacebag it...

I agree, the air comes back in. I'll try the duct take if I ever get around to rebagging them.

I'm firmly in the "fabric needs to breathe" camp and wouldn't risk storing any textiles in vacuum sealed bags.

I was using them for bulk fiberfill and poly batting.....

I love them for storing bulky winter items during the summer, i.e., blankets, quilts, extra comforters, bedspreads, sweatsuits, sweaters,etc. And for storing summer items during the winter, i.e., sleeping bags for camping.

I have several, that I packed (with extra blankets) before we moved, three years ago; they're still vacuum sealed. Others didn't last a day.

NO! The bags can open and then you would have another problem lurking. Also the bags are plastic. I like the IKEA zippered storage bags or a plain 'ol pillowcase for storage.

One of my friends purposely makes a pillowcase esp for each quilt using materials either in the quilt or coordinating with the quilt. She has made several wall hangings and has those in the appropriate holiday themed fabric so she can easily get out what she wants.
