no, i only wash utility quilts, art quilts never get washed.

I don't wash my quilts when I'm finished unless they have starch in them. I do wash Olivia's quilts bc I use a special detergent for her. After reading this thread I think I will wash the quilts that I give as gifts.

Yes, I do wash almost all my quilts. I started out washing them as I smoked & needed to get the smell (stink) out of them. Quit smoking, but still wash - now to get the markings out. Besides I really like the look of a little pucker here & there!

I wash when I am done - after the spray adhesive, and the sizing to stiffen the fabric - washing makes them cuddly and soft - but then again my quilts are not show pieces - they are gifts to be used

Yes I wash mine when they are finished. They get handled a lot in the process and it lets me see that everything is OK after it’s washed.

Most of the time. Anything that leaves the house and anything I'm going to sleep with. I just finished one last night. Into the washer on cool with a few color catchers. Into the dryer until mostly dry. Looks and smells fresh. I don't want to have one I have to pamper.

I always wash my quilts when they're finished. They've never yet fallen apart, but I worry each and every time!!

I never washed a quilt before I gave it away
I seldom prewash the fabric before sewing a quilt I don't use spray starch I put a white bedsheet on the floor when hand quilting I have no pets to leave their hair on everything I have washed quilts after they have been used and soiled I dry them on the wash line on a clear sunny day, no wind I haven't had any refused or returned for any reason I must be alone in this world, I do things my way I like the look of new fabric Carol J. |

I prewash my fabrics and then wash the quilt when finished. I want to know if it's going to fall apart, bleed, or whatever before I give it to someone.
I recently had a bad experience that my finished quilt bled after washing it even though I had prewashed everything. I did manage to get it back to normal but was scary. Barb |
