Doctor Who Fans?

1 Attachment(s)
Are there any Dr Who fans here? This is a UFO, a birthday gift for my sister in 2 weeks. Front of the quilt is a Tardis. And this is the back - I found the profiles online, but I'm not a Dr. Who fan, so I'd love it if anyone can tell me if there is anything obviously missing/wrong with it. My sister will notice for sure if I've messed up.

Doctors go in order (I hope) from bottom, along an S curve up towards #13 at the top. Gotta get it on the longarm this weekend if it's going to make it to Vancouver in time for her birthday, so quick responses appreciated.

I am a big Doctor Who fan.......Tom Baker to be precise. I haven't kept up with the series since he left.

Do you have a photo of the front? I would love to see it.

The pattern is here https://huntersdesignstudio.com/2014...-its-a-tardis/ Apparently I haven't taken a photo of the front yet.

I am a huge fan I love the original and the new episodes. Your Doctors look to be in order. Capaldi's (12) silhouette doesn't seem to be as instantly recognizable as the others, looks like the silhouette of him as the ancient Roman before he became the Doctor, but maybe I'm just so used to his big wild hair, seems every season it got a little taller. lol

Chasing Hawk - #4 is my doctor too!

It looks good to me! You've got lots of the iconic elements in the profiles. I wish I was your sister!

Thank you both. The quilt is a thank you gift, because she found (and sent me from across the country) an old 1937 Singer for my birthday last year. When I saw the Tardis, I knew she had to have this quilt (pieced on that very machine), and then of course the 13th doctor was announced and she was thrilled, so I had to include that too.

Fandom in stitches is a great website for DW (and almost any fandom you can think of) They also have a FB group.

I'm not a DW fan, but I just returned from Goodwill store..1st Saturday- half price, and I got a fleece throw that has label "Dr Who logo" licensed by BBC. It is large, bright red, with black circles and something I can't identify. I thot it would make a cozy backing for a youth size quilt.

I love Dr Who, they all look ok to me. Cannot wait to see Jodie in action.

I am a big Dr. Who fan, and your quilt is fantastic! Your sister will love it! All the profiles look good to me, and the front is perfect.

I agree about the #12 comment but if that was the silhouette given, then that's the one to use. I just LOVE that only #13 is full frontal. I am so excited about a female doctor. Too bad we have to wait longer to see her than your sister does for her quilt.

Thanks. That was a decision of necessity, but I decided I liked the impression. I found all 12 doctors in profile online, but no one seems to have come up with #13 yet. So I took a publicity shot of her in the 13th doctor's costume, and converted it to monochrome. It came out better than I expected. And I grew to like the idea that she's special and all the other doctors are fading away, or looking up to her.

yes, you have them in the correct order. Funny story - My youngest came home for holiday from college and was so excited. Her group of friends had 'found' this great British TV show and were excited to tell me about it - Dr. Who!!! They were shocked to find out I had been a fan since the 70's and aghast that we all liked the same thing!! hee, hee, hee. A couple years later I made her a Dr. Who quilt with 20 blocks of various items (combo applique, paper piece and pieced). It was one of the most difficult, but most rewarding quilts I have made.

I agree that the Capaldi silhouette doesn't jump out as him - BUT - how could it? He changed so very much from his first to last episode that it would be difficult to pick just one look.

So fun! I spent this weekend making a Tardis quilt too. My nephew turns 13 in two weeks so I need to get it done. I drew up my own pattern. :)
