Does 404 Repositional Spray wash out?
 

Does anyone have experience with the 404 Spray? Am wondering if it will wash out in the laundry as the 505 Basting Spray does. I find no information on the 404 label, so am turning to you. I really like the 505, but am unable to find locally, having no desire to pay for shipping via an online shop.

I wouldn't risk using 404 as a basting spray. Might gum up your needle, plus it does not wash out.

Quilters use 404 to make stencils repositionable -- sort of like post-it notes. You spray the back of the stencil and then can adhere it many times to fabric without leaving a residue on the fabric. To get the spray off the stencil, you need a cleaning agent (DK5).

I don't have any experience with the spray you are asking about. I use Sullivan's basting spray.

I used to hate to pay for S&H for online purchases but my hubby has convinced me it is faster and cheaper than driving somewhere (gas prices are high) or several places to find what you are looking for ... plus the wear and tear on the car and the time it takes to do it. You can shop online in jammies at your leisure any time of day or night, much safer too, except for temptation to buy too much, LOL.

I still grouse about S&H but with hubby's blessing, I now do lots of shopping online.

5. Why would I want to use 404 instead of 505?[/h]404 remains repositionable. 505 is repositionable for 20 – 30 minutes. 404 has a higher tack for machine quilting. 404 does not wash out of fabric.

Geez - I checked the shipping from Sewforless. 505 has to ship ground and they want 14.65! That is more than the can of spray.

My local WalMart carries it. I can also be purchased at www.walmart.com it's $18.88 and you can get free shipping to your local store, the can is 11.7 ounces.

I had no clue Walmart carried 505 , or that I could order it on line and get it shipped to the store . This opens a new option for me. Thanks for the post.

I've ordered things from walmart.com and had them shipped to the local store. Works great and saves on shipping!

Shipping costs from sewforless work out better if you order more than one can at a time.

I calculated the costs of the two cans. The smaller Walmart can is $1.61 per oz, and the larger sewforless can is $1.68 per oz. The per oz cost of the sewforless probably goes down considerably if you order 2 cans at one time. If I am remembering correctly, the larger can was enough for about 3 full-size to queen-size quilts.

Great. i'm on my way to Wal-mart for kitty litter. I will also look for 505 spray. it's getting hard to find here.
