I dread binding, I don't like any type of hand stitching and it usually takes me a week juts to bind a lap quilt.

I guess maybe I am a loner as I do enjoy doing the binding.

It is the end of a long road and the completion of a project....and I just enjoy doing that last finishing touch.

Go figure !!!!!

Sometimes I have trouble getting myself STARTED, but I really love the hand stitching and it is a perfect time to watch TV, a movie, or listen to a book on tape. I had a hard time with a corner last night, which was frustrating, but when I machine stitched to the top I got one corner a bit off.

what a beautiful quilt. I find that i really do like putting my binding on, i sit in my rocking chair infront of the tv and sew away. or no tv and my mind travels to days of yore and my children or grandkids. I think if you have a positive attitude about it you will find it a plesant thing to do....if you start out negative feeling about it, you will never want to do it....
put your favorite music on and enjoy that along with the needle and thread....

I think it's just because it's so heavy. I did get the binding sewn to the front, but haven't had time to get the rest of the binding done.

U did a wonderful job on the quilting. I'm quilting on the machine my 1st queen size scrap quilt. I'm trying to only work on it when I'm not tired.

I love to do the binding part. My hardest part is the quilting. There are too many designs to choose from and i love them all so much!

I love to hand bind. I find it really relaxing. I leave an extra 3 inches on my back piece, trim the batting to flush with the top piece. Then I fold the binding toward the edge of the front, wrong sides together. I hand baste long stitches toward the outer folded edge. The stitches will be hidden later and don't come out. The edge is now 1.5 inches wide, folded wrong sides together. After basting, I fold twice, toward the quilt top, and again. I end up with a nice uniform small binding edge. I hold it in place with binding clips and hand sew it down with an invisible stitch. I did it last night and night before while watching Project Runway. I leave about 3 inches out from corners open, and fold them last, cutting out extra fabric. So, when finished, the back of the quilt is all flat and the "edge" rests on the side and top. Best of all, no tedious piecing of strips. This worked on my most recent flannel twin size. Took about 5 hrs all together. Looks great.

very pretty quilt. I hate to bind too. That's my least favorite part of quilting. I need to make the binding for my oldest grandson's quilt. It's been finished all but the binding for over a year and I still haven't gotten the binding on it. I really need to get that done. He asks about it sometimes..guess he's about given up on getting it.
