Does anybody have advice...

On buying the Brother SM8270 sewing machine from Costco? My sister is looking for a Brother without too many bells and whistles. Thanks

I don't. I always buy my machines from dealers so that if I have problems I have some support and somewhere to go with my questions. I also like having the guide classes so I can learn how to use all the functions of the machine.

My sister bought her Brother machine from Costco many years ago, and it is still going strong. The price was good and she knew if she had any problem she could return it to Costco without a problem.

Yes this! I think it might be a good idea as they will take it back if there are problems and most likely it is a fair price.

Brother machines are easy to use. I have three. One of them (different version) from Costco. Their manuals are very good. I would not hesitate. Costco takes anything back so no worries there. If you have looked at previous posts regarding the lower end brothers you will see so many of us quite pleased with them. I've never had the need for a dealer on any of them. Plus there are many you tube videos available. My opinion would be to go for it.

I would get it. I've been happy with a similar Brother at that price point.

I have one of the Brother Project Runway machines I bought at Walmart 5-6 years ago on sale for less than $100. I love it and have no problems with it. I would say go for it.

I bought mine from there 3 yrs ago. Works great for simple machine quilting. I like the variety of fancy stitches. i still prefer my featherweight for piecing.

I bought my brother from a dealer. Never took the free class and have never had any problem with it sewing.the rubber buttons you press in for various reasons lost two. I use a screw driver to push in as a new button panel would cost more than the machine. Just be careful of the buttons. I'm calling the bits you press which are made of rubber buttons don't know technical name.

Just make sure that if there is a problem with the machine, what is the window of return at Costco??
