I've decided that I would like to make a sampler quilt. I saw a pattern that looks like the sampler blocks are floating on the fabric, this is what I think I would like to make. This is one I found on the internet, I didn't make it, but its this idea with different colors. I could make the background any color. I saw this one with different colors in a quilt magazine I had and can't find the magazine now. I believe one had a white background and one had a black background. I've had my eye on this pattern for awhile.

This would be a fun project and a way to make so many different blocks. I haven't made a sampler quilt.

I have been working on two on and off for over 6 years. One is a king size and the other twin sized one. It is from Quilt in a Day- The Underground Rail Road except I am making them way bigger so I need multiple blocks. I like how I have learned many different techniques and blocks. It has also forced me to make some blocks I might not have chosen on their own.

Here is the link to some ones blog with a picture of the type off quilt made from the book.

I saw one in one of the recent quilting mags (Can't remember which now). I tore it out to make. Each block meant something to the quilter and I want to make one that tells my story that I can hand down to my kids.

I am planning some, it seems like a way to do a lot of different patterns and experiment why creating an end product. My MIL has made some beautiful ones.

My very first quilt was a sampler that I took a class for. It was the best class! I learned many techniques and while my first quilt is not the prettiest I am so grateful for the teacher I had.
I may do another one some day with my orphan blocks. A lot of board members gave me the idea :D

My first quilt was a sampler. It is on my bed now. Very warm and I love it.
