this would explain why I have so much "stuff" I buy things to use in my sewing~ some that is suppose to help me improve~and then I set it aside to wait until the "time" is right...whatever that means! I bought some of that gripper for the rulers...then have continued to struggle with the slip. Last night I finally grabbed it and put it on one of the Lazy Girl rulers I was using. Worked like a charm! I wonder how much better of a quilter and sewer I'd be if I actually USED all this stuff I've had my hub shell out his hard earned money for?? With that being said..I came to a decision to actually use every single thing...this next year I will buy less and use more of what I have...gadgets rulers fabrics etc.....No wonder he looks at me funny when I say I HAVE to have something. =)

welcome to my world - - - - :|

Another way to look at it................My hubby is so happy when I wear something out! He is so proud when I just use it to death!
|
When I first started quilting I was that way. I never was too sure where the line between want/need fell. Now I'm a little more discerning when I buy. I don't do a lot of impulse buying like I used to. Apparently a lot of "needs" were actually "wants" because I have a lot of stuff I don't use much. But I like having them "just in case". (O:

I've found out Less is More .. if it was only sooner!
|
When I first started quilting I thought I needed everything..... Then I realized I didn't need half of it.
Now I just use what I have and live with it. :P |
I still find things I just HAVE to have, of course now we don't have the money to buy everything I just HAVE to have. So it's now, is it more important than those new trifocals the doctor says you need? Or more important than the brand name prescription the doctor wants you to start taking........etc., etc., etc. Sure helps keep it in perspective!!!!!

OK, now i have to stop trying to sew and read, great multi-tasker but would rather be a good Quilter than pro-ripper  |

I hear you. When you look around, we have SO MUCH! I too and trying hard not to impulse buy and use what I have, it only gets hard when there is a super sale! I love a great deal and that is MY downfall.

I have gotten over the need to save new gadgets for the "right" project. Now I can not wait to try out my latest. Now fabric thats another subject ... still have fabric waiting for the perfect project.

I see a great tool, but don't know when I will use it. Then I buy it because I'm afraid when the time comes, I won't remember what the tool was and where it was being sold! I don't trust my memory at all!
I just bought a curved seam foot because it made the whole process look sooo easy. One day I'm going to make a drunkards path or storm at sea. I'm pretty sure by then I won't be able to remember what the tool was called, or where on the web I found it. So I bought it a few days ago. The big question is, when I get around to that quilt with curves, will I remember I have a tool for it? That's my story and I'm sticking to it! |
where do you live in oklahoma?

What is a gripper?
|
Yes I find myself in the same postion from time to time.

she is talking about the clear rubber like sheet, you put on the back of your ruler,to keep it from slipping. or it could be the suction type handles you use in a tub,you attach it to your ruler and it helps you get a better grip on the ruler. or,LOL! they have clear rubber "dots" you can put on your ruler.. all i know, is don't buy anything, until you ask here..where to get it cheap, if it works.. LOL!!!! |
Sure do. I bought a new ruler a few weeks ago that I just hadto have because some of the markings on my old ruler are fading. I am still using the old one, saving the new one. Why? I dont know.
