I taught beginniing sewing and beginning quilting classes. Taught all students to sew with bare feet. This way they can get a feel of the peddle rather than 'peddle to the medal'.

ALWAYS. Even if I'm wearing shoes, I take them off to "drive" the machine.

HAHAHA How cute. I sew without my shoes too. and I do not use shoes in my house either.

I didn't sew barefoot until I took a machine quilting class and the instructor suggested we go barefoot when quilting because it give you more control over machine speed.
Now I'm always misplacing my shoes... |
I'm never barefoot in my sewing room and it's for safety reasons.
First, I'm concerned about pins lurking in the carpeting. More important, I'd hate to experience the damage that could be done by a dropped rotary cutter on a bare foot. |
Yes, I sew barefoot or just with socks on. In my home, we usually take our shoes off when we come in from outside (we live on a farm). We got use to the idea from living in Japan for 5 years.
Even if I have shoes on for some reason (like in a class) , I take off the right shoe when I go to sew. I feel as if I have better control of the speed when I do that. |
Can't sew a thing with my shoes on
