I tie all of mine but only because I really don't know how to do it any other way. I absolutely love some the the quilts our members show, that have been maching quilted. Beautiful!

I am making a layer cake lap quilt for my mom for Christmas and am going to tie it. I quilt some, and tie some.

I make a lot of "charity" quilts and can't afford the time to hand or home machine quilt or the money to hire machine quilting on all of them, so I tie a lot, except of course the Quilts for Kids, which have to be machine quilted.

After I made a quilt for my DN, Katrina, I tried FMQ. Big mistake. I finally just tied it. She loved it.

I tie some of them, especially bed-sized quilts too large for fmq. I tie them if I think it will add to the "coziness" or character of the quilt, and send them to the long-armer if I think quilting would be better. I'm too impatient and untalented to hand-quilt, and besides, it would give my arthritis fits.

Try an upholstery shop for needles. Especially the curved ones. which I think are the greatest for tieing.........
