Does anyone have either of these bags?
 

I am needing a bag to carry my sewing machine in and found these to be cheaper, and maybe more durable than the expensive ones Joann sales. I am just wondering if anyone has either of these and how do they work wirh your machine?

Interesting reviews.... the carpenters said it only last a few days but the person using it for sewing said it lasted for years.

Sounds like it would be worth a try. Doesn't look like there's any padding to protect the machine but I suppose you could wrap it in a small quilt or surround it with your fabric.

You would have to know the inside dimensions of the bag and if it has any pockets or dividers that would hamper getting your machine into it. Also check out stores like Walmart to see what they have. Lots of suitcases and other travel bags now have wheels.

I have the second the, the red one. I use it for my handcrank Singer 66 as I don't have a hard sided case that will fit the crank.

Works well, handles the weight well. I do pad my 66 with a thick bath towel when I use the case.

I like the fact that this case has the tow behind handle AND it has the individual handles to lift the case in and out of the car. The wheels are very sturdy - the zipper is also heavy duty and has never failed me.

This case started out life here in a different manner - used it for transporting medical equipment for hubby that was too heavy for me to carry. :)

I would give it a try. If you have a Harbor Freight near you, I would take the machine to the store and test drive it...

I agree that there isn't any padding, so...buy the thin padding that is for sale at Joann and make a custom pouch for the machine to go into before the rolling bag. Or a beach towel....what ever works for you.

I have th first one. For my Baby Lock Ellure Plus it doesn't work too well. The opening is just exactly the size of the machine and then there are pockets inside that catch the machine. Used it twice and gave up. It does roll nicely. Doesn't have any padding inside

Looks like a neat deal. I have found that if you check out the tool department you can find a lot of things there that can be used for sewing. I buy those divider boxes and keep my sewing machine feet and such in them. Lot cheaper than most things made for quilters. If it is for quilting it seems to cost more.

Just a little warning. I have a janome trolley for sewing machines, expensive. No problem with trolley but please remember to pack well the handle area in the bag. I had to do an emergency stop. When I took my bernina out the handle had been pushed under the top plastic on one side only. The gentleman who does our electric checks had a look and widdled it out. I am not complaining about the bag or machine but just trying to warn all of you who like me take expensive machines to classes accidents do happen. I love both and now I place my quilt material between the handle and machine at the back.

I have a local Harbor Freight store and spend many happy hours finding all sorts of things I can incorporate into my quilting room for storage, etc. I'm usually the only woman actually SHOPPING there when I go! My dh thinks it's funny that I get excited when he wants to make a H.F. run!

I needed a bag for my white Featherweight. I went to Walmart and bought a soft side cooler and it works splendidly. It has pockets on both ends and the inside is very well padded. Has an adjustable handle for shoulder or just carrying and is very light weight. They had larger ones too that would probably fit a bigger machine. Mine cost around $12.00.

I have the first one that I carry my Janome Magnolia in. Took it all the way to NY (from MO) riding behind the drivers sat with no problem. Iid however have some fabric packed around the upper portion - not really forprotection, I just wanted to have it with the machine - maybe it did dual duty? My Janome is my backup machine.

I have a bag that I bought at Tuesday Morning a couple of years ago & it works well but I'd love to have another one.
I did measure the inside of it & its 16"x9" inside with a depth of 13". The Harbor Freight bags are only 10" deep but with the top being soft it should work. My bag is only reinforced with what feels like card board & its not really heavy cardboard. I'm sure you could find something firm to reinforce the other bags (maybe stick cardboard in the many pockets)

I have the green one for my Featherweight. Not really pleased. No padding, inside pockets catch on machine and the bag is actually pretty heavy. I'm looking for a paded cooler which I think would be much lighter.

No I don't have one but Lord knows I wished I did.Our harbor freight store is more than 85 miles away and so is our nearest quilt shop.Our Walmart no longer and will no longer carry fabric.It is not a super walmart just plain jane Hun go figure.

They do look good but I'd make sure I could return it if my machine didn't fit in it. Do they have any padding to protect the machine? I'd go with the 2nd one even tho it is more you would probably use the carry bag for all the other things you need to take to classes,etc.

i have the 2nd bag,it is good for the price.my pfaff 1475cd is the choice i take to my weekly sewing group but its a bit heavy lifting in and out of car,but it does roll real well. it saved me $$$$$ for fabric lol.

Have looked at similar ones in the store ... they are a lot heavier than a rolling sewing machine bag (but probably sturdier).

No sorry I use a rolling luggage bag that I got from creative arts club when I joined their club a few years ago and love it.

I bought a Tutto rolling bag for my machine years ago. I'm so glad I did. DH set the bag with my machine on top of my car (still don't know why he did that) and it fell off onto the pavement. The machine was fine! The bag still rolls like new. Worth every dollar I paid for it.

Years ago I spent less than $20 at WalMart. Happy with it.

Too small for my Bernina.

I bought the first one and use it a lot. It is a tight squeeze for my Juki 98TL but it works. The Janome 3160 fits fine!

I have one of the Joanne's bags w wheels I bought it when they had it on a real good sale. It doesn't have any padding inside the outside has a zipper pocket. I think the one for $29. looks a little sturdier maybe.
I don't know if you could get a suitcase with wheels for under $29. but you can always ck the stores have so much on sale lately. good luck finding something you like.
I agree with you Pilgrim that things made for quilter's are higher priced sometimes like you say you can find things in other departments work as good. Sue
