Grace frame? I am looking at a used one for $1100.00 and would like to know what you think of it?

I have a Bernina Frame made by Grace Company. There are a few things I don't like - the leader attach to the poles with velcro - I'd like to see and try the kind that are attached in a channel. I have to manually lift or lower my poles, I'd like to try the kind with a turning wheel. That is just two. Try different ones, look at them, see if they are easy to use.

What is the throat size on your Mega Quilter? They made the machines with both a 9" harp and an 18" harp...........If it is the 9", I would say that this machine is a bit difficult to quilt anything other than a small wall hanging or baby quilt.......not that it cannot be done, but it is more difficult because of the small harp size.

I, personally, would save a little more, and get something with a larger harp size.

I know the trade in value of this machine at the Viking dealer is about 550, so I'd say depending on the frame it would be a great deal. I have a small metal Grace frame and the mega quilter. The dealer recently told me they have people on the waiting list for this machine. Yes, it would be great to afford the 18" harp but it'll be yrs before I can do that and a 9" is better than the reqular machines plue is you have it set up on a frame it'll give you lots of use. Its a straight stitch machine with lots of speed but easy to control and the tension is easy. The demonstrator from Viking reccomends Aurifil thread on it but most all of the threads work great on it. Its a very heavy reliable machine.

I think that is a fair price especially if it is the one with the 9' throat. I used that set for up a couple of years and was happy with it. However now I am trying to sell it and $1200.00 is the amount I would be happy with. I have friends that have done large quilts on it and it is possible however I only make smaller quilts.

I have the Mega Quilter and love it. I wish I had room to put it in a frame but don't. The machine is my workhorse.

I had that set up with the 9" for 5 years and it was a workhorse. I recently sold it for $1100 cash.
While it is true, it is harder to quilt within the smaller throat area, it can be done, and successfully. You put the longest side on the bars. I've quilted many quilts (75x65) and bigger. the only reason I sold it was due to space. I had rented a studio to sew and quilt and decided I could have a lot of quilts done by someone else for the rent I was paying.
I miss the set up. :(

I'm getting ready to sell a Grace New Generation frame (10') along with a Grace stich regulator. I was using it with a Megaquilter 9".

I love the machine - it's bulletproof and I've used both Aurifil and Superior threads on it with no issues.

I just found out that after all that, I just don't care for standup frame quilting - I'm going back to FMQ with just the machine. Just a personal choice.

The machine and frame were great - the frame is well built and the stich regulator does fine also.

1100 for the combo seems fine - the frame is about 600 from some outlets and the machine can be had used for around 600. A new stich regulator will cost about another $500. The frame does come standard with a speed controller and a battery-operated laser pointer.

I'm assuming this is a 9" megaquilter with no stich controller. If it has the SC, or if it's an 18" megaquilter, it's a steal.
