Does anyone know about this product???
 

Sometime ago when I was sewing clothes for grand children I used to use a liquid product called "Sew Easy". It came in a small bottle with a fine point top. Liquid was clear and you put it on a spool of thread to make it glide though material with no shredding. I have looked and looked but can't find it anywhere. Does anyone remember it or know where to find it?

I buy mine at my local JoAnn's. I LOVE that stuff....a few drops on the thread spool and my machine purrrrs when it sews. I also use it on the bobbin thread.

can't remember where I got mine...local quilt shop or hancocks-paducah.com or clotilde? I'll try to remember. Love that stuff!
oh yeah, maybe a site for long=arm quilters may have it.

it is called "sewer's aid". Just make sure you should be using it on your machine. Some of the newer machines can not use this stuff. It is a synthetic lubricant and when it goes through your machine it leaves traces behind, and those bits of lubricant attract ALL the dust/fibers it can...requiring MORE maintenance on your machines!

I've been using it for years on all my machines. I put a drop on all my spools of thread. The Bernina tech told me it was fine to use just don't over use. One drop is all you need per spool. I put the drop about 1/2" from the top of the thread spool. It reduces the friction of the thread route. I'm still using the first bottle I bought. It's not half way gone yet from years ago. And when Hancock's went out of business here it was on clearance for .25 a bottle. I bought 12 bottles, all they had left. No one was buying it. When I had all of them in my cart I got asked what is that stuff ? I was surprised when I saw it for $6 a bottle just a few weeks ago! I found other uses for it besides sewing. It's pure silicone so it's the same as the frizz free hair serum in the tiny bottles. I put a drop in my hair brush when my hair is all frizzy or fly away. I buff my sewing ext. table to make it slick for fmq. I have refreshed my Supreme Slide by buffing it with it. Not bad for a $3 investment and I will never have to buy anymore.

I totally agree with Jacuie!! This stuff is NOT good for the newer machines at all!! When it first came out everyone was using it for machine embroidering. Thread stitched out like magic, no problem at all. Until the machines began reacting to it! When I was teaching machine embroidery that was one thing I made sure to tell my classes, don't use Sewer's Aid!! Works like a miracle for thread,... not sew much on our machines!!

One tiny drop per spool of thread and it it hasn't harmed any machine I have. I've seen sewist run a line down the spool of thread and that's way too much!

I've had a small bottle of it for years, usually use it when I sew with metalic threads.

I use it with my long-arm when I have trouble with thread breakage.(Very seldom) Works great. Not sure I would want to use it all of the time.

Thank you ladies. I used to use it on my first Viking, never had any trouble and had that machine for years. I have a Viking now that I have had for about 14 years and also used it when this machine was new but hadn't been able to find it lately....thanks again for all your responses

I used to use that stuff all the time, but my Viking dealer cautioned me against using it with the electronic machines. Not sure exactly why (or don't remember why), but I don't use it any more.

I will check with my machine maintenance guy to see if it is safe for the models I have.

Yes, it is wonderful when used sparingly with the shiney mylar thread. It is also great for degunking machine needles that sometimes get adhesive on them.

WOW! What a helpful find, I need something to help my thread along. My machine is about 4 years old so it should be able to handle it...I hope! Thanks for the post.

I don't see it on the Joann's website, but Amazon.com has it for around $7.

I put thread heaven in a v and around the spool. Works great.

I use it for hand embroidery. A drop on my finger then pull the thread thru. Keeps tangles down. Never thought to use it on my machine thread. Guess that's a duh moment for me.

I have never heard of this product - learn so much from this site. Thanks will have to go look for some now.
