Does Anyone Know Nauvoo Quilt & Textile Co?
 

Have any of you ever ordered from this company?

Nauvoo Quilt Co. 1830 Parley St. Nauvoo, IL 62354 USA Phone: 1-217-980-0000? They seem to carry all the right brands of quilting fabrics, Michael Miller, Kaufman...etc. Just not sure if it is the same quality or seconds or thirds?? Found them on the internet while looking for Heavenly Pixies by Michael Miller. Fabric.com is out of the fabric. Nauvoo has it really cheaper!!

I just looked at their site. I have never ordered from them though. Be aware though that their prices are for 1/2 yard cuts, not full yards.

Not every person makes a comment but they the ratings are all positive. If you go through the pages of feedback you'll see people have made additional comments.

I've been in the store once and everything was high quality. And the owner who helped me was very nice and helpful. As long as you're okay w the price, I think you'd be happy w your purchase

I ordered a TON of stuff from them on eBay - I don't know if they still have a store there or not, but I was always happy with the quality of the fabric and the super service. :) They had complete lines of some fabrics that were difficult to find elsewhere - and their eBay store was Civil War Repro heaven! :)

I have ordered from them, international. Fabric quality has been exellent and fast delivery every time. I recommend.

Hi, I have followed this blog for years and never posted anything, but I couldn't let this pass. The Nauvoo Quilt Co. is an e-bay/etsy shop only. They cut fabric in and ship from her basement and garage. She is not a shop in Historic Nauvoo. Sew Inspired is the only "brick and mortar" quilt fabric store in Nauvoo, IL. This is how she represents herself on e-bay and etsy -- New fabric, cut off the bolt from our smoke free and pet free quilt shop in historic Nauvoo, Illinois. I cut and pasted this directly from her site.
She has received high marks from both etsy and e-bay, but I (Sew Inspired) am the one who gets the calls when her customers are not happy with their order. You never see that. The average is figured on people who respond, not on the total orders that she ships. People have also accussed me of lying (they don't believe it when I say that I am not Nauvoo Quilt Co.) to avoid having to help them with their problem. She has finally started to list her phone number, but try getting her. It's her home phone number and always goes straight to voicemail. If she is willing to misrepresent this proveable fact, then what else is she willing to misrepresent?
She has even gone so far as to take a picture of an unoccupied building in Nauvoo and put it on her personal website as being her "shop." The internet is a place where anyone can be anyone or anything they want to be with few knowing the truth and even fewer willing to speak up.
To those of you who stated that you had been in her shop, I can only assume that you are talking about Sew Inspired Quilts of Nauvoo and I say "thank you, thank you." You are kind. If you really are talking about Nauvoo Quilt Co and have been to her home, I find that interesting. She is breaking a city ordinance by selling products to walk-in customers in her home. I pay wages, rent, utilities, telephone, internet, unemployment insurance, Social Security, liability insurance, insurance for both fire and theft, city and state licenses, and taxes, taxes, taxes. She pays none of this -- it is why she can sell it so inexpensively.
Small businesses are really struggling and the above forementioned reasons are just some of the reasons why. Government has done this and has succeeded in driving people underground to sell their wares. Fabric.com is now owned by Amazon and they are doing everything they can to undercut the mom and pop quilt shops also. When we are gone, they will have total control over the prices, quality, and distribution just like they have done with book stores.
Quilters are tactial by nature. They want to see color and "feel" their fabric before buying. Many of the quilt shops have become show rooms for those who feel their fabrics and then go home and order off e-bay. I understand it when a person can't get the fabrics that you really need to make or finish a project. And, I really understand that many of us do not have extra money and are looking for every way possible to cut expenses. I am one of you!!
But the only reason I am saying what I am is because one day we will all wake up and the mom and pop quilt stores will all be gone and the only place you can buy quilting fabric is from e-bay, etsy, and fabric.com. You will not only be losing the ability to "feel" the fabric and seeing the real colors before buying, but also give up project related help, classes, etc. and the door will be wide open for the major fabric manufacturers to cut their quality even further.
I hope I haven't offended anyone, please forgive me if I have -- but these are real concerns. Sometimes when we are looking to save a few dollars, we really don't take into consideration how the dominoes can drop and what the future ramifications can be.
