You could probably find it on Quilter's Cache, don't know what it's called though.

Looks like a variation of Blackford's Beauty.

Agree that it is BB ... just that the colour placement makes it looks different to BB

tesspug 01-17-2015 05:26 PM

This one is similar. http://sewnwildoaks.blogspot.com/sea...ountry%20Charm
and here is Blackfords Beauty http://www.quilt-lovers-guide.com/bl...#axzz3P8E6k2xz

Yes, thank you, thats it, blackford's beauty. Cant wait to try it. Has anyone made a quilt with this block that you can post a picture of?

I had planned to make a queen size Blackford's Beauty almost two years ago but my enthusiasm waned and I never did finish this.

Oh you must finish it.....it is lovely.

I haven't made one of the BB quilts, but I drew the block of the quilt you showed us in EQ7 and then made a quilt of it. I only used one set of colors and I really like the way it came out. I am much better at 4 color quilts than a bunch of colors.

Edited to add: Because this was a 9 patch block pattern, I drew the block as a 9 inch block. That made each part 3x3". The quilt as shown would only be a 38" square.

Wow! Jenny penny, your quilt is beautiful! I hope you donget to finish it. And Barb, thats such a neat tool, thank you so much for that, it really explains the block.

bee3 01-18-2015 04:56 AM

Barb, I just realized you drew the block in your EQ7, not found it. Thats really neat that you can do something like that. FOr the arrow block, does it look like 2 flying geese units or would you put them together differently. Thanks again for
re-creating it !

If you are comfortable with FG, then do 2 FG units for each side. If you aren't comfortable with FG, then they could be made as HST's. It's your choice.

A little added note....About a year ago, I decided it was time to learn how to use EQ, after all I had bought 5, then 6 and now 7 and still couldn't do a block. Then I figured out that I had to know block construction to be able to draw a block. I could already could see simple block designs, but working with EQ has really upped my ability.

Barb, it looks like fun. thank you again for charting it out, I'll refer to your block because it makes the most sense of the ones that Ive seen.

You can also make them by snowballing two corners of each rectangles. Which ever is the easiest for you to make them.

bee3 01-18-2015 10:07 AM

maniac quilter, what does snowballing mean? how would that be done? thanks!

These are like one of the clues for Bonnie's mystery quilt. She put three methods for making them in her clue... Maybe Clue 2????

sewbizgirl 01-19-2015 08:24 AM

I assume you are asking about how to make the pink chevron blocks... (the nine patches are easy enough). Bonnie Hunter's latest mystery quilt has those blocks in it. For those pink chevrons you would put two together... Check out the block here:
http://quiltville.blogspot.com/2014/...on-part-2.html
She gives several ways to make them. You'll have to make some with the center diamond leaning left, and some leaning right, and sew them together to make that chevron block.

bee3 01-19-2015 08:38 AM

Thanks for explaining the snowball, chevron block. I did find another quilt similar by bonnie hunter called "Jared takes a wife".

I drew templates for BB about 29 years ago and haven't made it yet; must get on with it. Your quilt is beautiful and it will be alright for you to downsize to a double and finish it! I've made a few QS quilts but no longer have a QS bed.

Ada Shiela 01-19-2015 01:26 PM

Love the colours and layout Barb; I haven't mastered EQ6 yet; too busy setting quilt tops so no time to play on the pc LOL

RedGarnet222 01-19-2015 01:40 PM

OMG penny! I love that top.

wildyard 01-19-2015 07:40 PM

Jenny penny l love your quilt too! If you are not interested in finishing it,send it my way and I will happily do so. It will make a wonderful comfort quilt! Smiles and hugs
