A friend of mine made it years ago for me. Tried to locate it via Google...no luck. Would love to make a label with the correct name included.

It's sort of like a Mariners Compas. I could be wrong.

I don't know the name but, it would make a beautiful quilt.
You might try looking at quilterscache.com. She has about 59 pages with a couple of dozen to the page. It could be in there. Just a thought.
The closest thing I can find to it in the EQ7 library is "octagon star" but it's not quite it.
I looked in "1000 Great Quilt Blocks" and couldn't find it in there. I don't think it's a "traditional" block.
Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I had already visited www.quilterscache.com and couldn't locate it. I suspect you are right quiltilicious, it could be non-traditional.
You might look on equilt patterns, it looks as if it's paper pieced and they have tons of pp patterns.

check Jenny Beyers site this looks like one of her designs

I checked the Jinny Beyers and the equilt sites and didn't quite find the exact block. Both were excellent sites to browse through though! Thanks everyone for your thoughts.
