Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know of a computer program where you can scan your fabric and then be able to place it in block design instead of just adding a color to the design? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A program like Electric Quilt would allow you to scan fabrics and add them to blocks. Or if you're able to make the block design yourself I think Gimp would do this and it's free.

With EQ7 you can also find a fabric on line that you might like to use and download the image in EQ and audition that fabric in your block. It also works for panels.
There is also an app for the iPad that allows you to keep an inventory of your fabric and to design quilts with that inventory. It is called Quiltography. I have recently downloaded it so I can keep track of my new purchases. Not sure if I will ever get all of my stash entered.

Electric Quilt did that in even earlier versions than EQ&. I'm pretty sure that feature has been available since EQ5. Buy EQ. You'll love it. It has features you never dreamed of, even the older version. I have EQ5, upgraded to EQ 6. Nothing else like it.

I still have EQ5 and love it. Scanning the fabric on this older program isn't as easy as with the newer versions.

if you have an iPad Quiltography does that. You take a picture of your fabric and then you add it to your stash. It loads it into your stash from your photos. Its easy to use there are youtube videos and its a lot cheaper than EQ7. You can design blocks and quilts.

Definitely the EQ program. It is relatively easy to learn with all the helps now in the program.

Floriani has My Decorative Quilter. You can scan your quilt squares as a backdrop (or use the hundreds of designs in the program) and design your quilting motifs on you square. I am not sure about using individual fabrics, have not used the program very much, yet.

EQ also releases free downloads of new fabric images every month, and a lot of the fabric manufacturers, such as Moda, do the same.

You don't need to scan or take a photo of your fabric, you can simply find a picture of it for sale online somewhere, copy that photo, then import it into EQ. Sooo easy.

Thanks Peckish, I have some fabric in my stash from way back and was looking for a way to use it. I'm sure no one has fabric that has set around forever. LOL
