Does anyone recognize this block?

I am using this block in a row-by-row exchange and I need to know the name of it. Originally I was planning to make a different block and cut out the pieces and made half-square triangels - bottom line - I didn't like the block so I started rearranging the pieces and came up with this pinwheel block. It's not entirely pinwheels though and I've looked to see if I could find the block anywhere else that is exactly like this one. No luck so far. Does it look familiar to anyone else? I need to include a note about the block I made and would like to give it it's proper name. Thank you for any help you can provide!

I don't know but I like it. I wish I could see it connected to more of the same block to see what it wouldl look like in a quilt.
It looks like a pinwheel block. I don't know the name of the other one, but you could figure out how to make it by looking at it, and if you place it like in the picture, you would have the pattern. You might find the other block on www.quilterscache.com

check out this page http://www.quilterscache.com/QuiltBlocksGalore42.html and look at the block called Cotton Reels. by switching the triangles and the solid squares you would have the block. Hope it works for you.

I can see a pinwheel block, don't know what the other is. It will make a beautiful quilt.
It's a neat block - I just noticed the third pinwheel hiding in the middle.
oh isn't that interesting? looks like 3 pinwheels from left down to right bottom. I like it but have no name.
I think you made an original block. Name it what ya want.
It's obviously a pinwheel, so just go ahead and call it"original pinwheel." I know, we aren't being helpful as to your question, but I've never seen it. Hope someone knows. Good luck!
Thanks everyone. You may be right - it's an original! I've looked everywhere. The closest I've come in similarity is the four-patch pinwheel block, but it doesn't have the pinwheel in the center.
I believe it is called Pinwheel.
I know for sure that it's the CathieB Pinwheel block. Discovered 2012.
It's beautiful. I have never seen this design. I think you have an original! Name it what you like and include your explanation with the block. Very pretty.

I just call it awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love it. Would really like to see it with more blocks together to get the feel for a whole quilt. Im betting it will be a keeper.
You forget when you described your block you said you started moving the squares around to create it. So of course it is your original block - a take off of a pinwheel block since it uses 3 tessalayting pin wheels in it.

Call it a triple pinwheel by Cathie and let it go. If you do find names, you'll more than likely find 5 or so, then you'll have to choose. |
You could call it 'Pinwheels Three' or 'Pinwheels on Parade'. Great block! Love the third pinwheel made from the use of two. Or 'CathieB Pinwheel Three' :)

I'd call it pinwheel banner. I love the idea - if you change the solid corners you'd get a really interesting pinwheel banner across the quilt. You might consider changing it like this:

That is cool how it plays with your eyes and you see 2 pinwheels then 3. What fun!
My first thought was to take out the blue solid corner blocks and replace them with the other (peach?) fabric. Then you would have a block with a strong diagonal that could be arranged to zigzag in rows either down the quilt or across the quilt.
I think you should make four of the blocks and see what you think of the secondary pattern/design that develops.
This is wonderful - I think you just came up with your own original design! What fun...
it looks like a pinwheel. i like it whatever you name it
Boy do I feel dumb! I misread your post. I thought you were wondering how to make this block? I agree with everyone else-it's your block, you name it!!
I've decided to call it Pinwheels for Lauren. If I were not making the block for Lauren's quilt I wouldn't have been fooling around with it to begin with! So here's to Lauren and a new block!
