I saw this quilt at the Dallas Quilt Show and want to do this pattern......can anyone identify the name of the pattern or who designed it or where I can fine it. HELP! I've already tried to contact the quilter, but no luck yet. Thanks for any help.

I don't know the pattern, but if no one else knows what it is, you can draft it out on graph paper. Looks like lots of hst's. squares and rectangles.

QuiltnLady1 04-02-2012 09:08 PM

Sorry I can't help, but if you had some graph paper you could draft it .

leggz48 04-02-2012 09:09 PM

I have made a half-hearted attempt at that, but I also have to identify placement of Lights/Mediums/Darks to make the chain trail correctly.......it will take quite the focused effort to map out a full size quilt, so I'm still trying to a quicker method. Thanks for your note.

Peckish 04-02-2012 09:40 PM

Was there no quilt name on the label, pinned to the front of the quilt? Usually if it's not an original design the quilter will give the name of the pattern. I've also seen quilts with labels that state the quilt was "inspired by" a certain design, but the maker made changes.

I knew I had seen that quilt/pattern somewhere! Found it in one of my recently bought books - Scrap Basket Sensations by Kim Brackett. Quilt is called 'Over and Under', good luck making your own - it's a great pattern!

QM 04-02-2012 10:52 PM

Actually, I think you only have to scatter med and dark around the white. It's actually a fairly simple pattern... in concept. It's obviously a great place to show off one's quilting (and one's batik scraps). Thanks for sharing it. I love it. that's now # 285 on my WAD list.

noveltyjunkie 04-02-2012 10:58 PM

Its lovely- glad that you now have a name for the pattern and good luck making it your own- please post photos, won't you?!

QuiltnNan 04-03-2012 04:14 AM

it surely is a beautiful quilt. be sure to post yours when done :)

zennia 04-03-2012 07:48 AM

Yes, I have the same book and I agree this is the pattern.

That's a lovely quilt, and thanks for bringing it to our attention. It's amazing how quickly you can get a response to a question on the board. What's funny is that you can actually read the name 'Over and Under' on the tag on the bottom of the quilt if you increase the size of the picture.

noveltyjunkie 04-03-2012 03:32 PM

Well I'll be! You are so right (and so eagle eyed)

It's in the book Scrap Basket Sensations...... knew I'd seen that pattern someplace. It's called Over & Under, looks easy.

redpurselady 04-04-2012 04:39 AM

Looks very much like Bonnie Hunt's Boxy Stars on quiltville.com

quiltbuddy 04-04-2012 05:03 AM

If you cannot find this pattern, why couldn't you just draft it yourself. It looks very simple with just two different blocks sewn to make four blocks and then joined to each other. I do this all the time to make quilts a specific size.

Lavada 04-04-2012 06:41 AM

Pretty quilt guess I will just add it to my bucket list

janny40 04-04-2012 07:21 AM

Looks like it's made out of 2 different blocks. Each block could be put together several different ways and it depend on how you turn it is what makes the pattern. I'm always trying to decipher a quilt in a magazine or other places on how I could make the blocks, much of the time it can be made by 2 or maybe a few more different block. The pattern may look really hard to make but turns out it is just how it is put together.

It is from the quilt book Scrap Basket Sensations by Kim Brackett. Page 30, it says Over and Under for quilt name. You can buy the book from www.amazon.com

SharonTheriault 04-04-2012 08:22 AM

Just ordered the book by Kim Brackett. Had pics of some of the quilts in the book. There will be lots of interesting quilts to do from it.

KyKaren1949 04-04-2012 09:24 AM

I found the pattern on the Connecting Thread website. Google Scrap Basket Sensations and look for the Connecting Threads link for it. Click on it, and then you can see all the quilts featured in the book. It's there! Very pretty quilt too!

margecam52 04-04-2012 10:28 AM

Looks like a variation on the split nine patch. she split some in half, and added them to all white (Tone on tone) split nine patches. The hardest part would be your color selection.

The quilt is beautiful, but it looks difficult to me, but I consider myself still a beginner. Will look forward to seeing your finished work.

Same here. Why do there have to be so many fabulous quilts out there, just begging to be made? Waaaaaaaaaaaah!

leggz48 04-08-2012 06:31 PM

Thank you, thank you, thank you.......I knew someone out there would bere able to help meaps she is. I could read the "Over and Under" pattern, as well as the name of the quilter and made an attempt to reach her via Facebook. However, perhaps she's like me and only looks at FB on a random basis. I plan to get the book and start this project in the summer. As many of you can probably appreciate......I have a ton of projects in process right now.

Thanks again!!!! Love you all, and this site is fantastic!

This is meant as a friendly tip - if you google "over and under quilt" then click on "images" in the upper left, you will get pictures of the quilt. Next time that might be a faster way to find the information you're looking for.

Gladys 04-10-2012 11:06 AM

I don't know the name of the pattern but the quilt is beautiful.

Donna in Mo 04-12-2012 09:50 AM

It looks like the pattern I saw recently called Twisted Chain.

Yes! I always search for quilt patterns using Google images. It's faster and very rare do I not find the quilt pattern.

lynndianne 04-13-2012 04:23 AM

Thank you Peckish for the great tip. There are just so many things I don't know.

Lynn
