does anyone recognize this?

My friend is wanting to make a quilt similar to this. I could walk her thru this w/o one, but I'm in AZ and she is in CA. I don't think I can do this over the phone or even online. There is even a time issue. Does anyone know of a pattern that is similar? Not the Boxed Squares..those are too even. Thanks!

Think I saw it in Keepsake Quilting catalog....perhaps check out online?

I found something similar here:

You have to scroll way down to "Rectangles & Gray" and "Chocolate Brown".

I don't see this listed in her patterns, but it may be in a book or tutorial someplace.

Yes, Keepsake has a few very similar patterns (kits), with one called "Sea Glass Kit" using soft hues of Bali fabrics which I think is closest with a bit more fancy border treatment. Patterns are usually available separately if you don't want the kit.

Bento Box or Shadowbox patterns are nice.

If you can't find the pattern you're looking for, you could work it out on graph paper and email it to her. Just a thought.

Check out this website. The colors are different, but the concept is close enough to adapt to that pattern.

Thank you ladies for your kind help! I have passed all these ideas on to my friend. I just wish we lived in the same town, so we could sew together. A quilt like that I think we could knock out in a day if we both worked on it. I have offered to quilt it if she gets a top together, so I will post a picture if that happens. You guys are the best!

What a great site. Thanks, I love the block and the neat way it's made.

Go to the second page of this blog and there's a similar (somewhat) quilt that she shows the planning. It's an intriguing way of making a one-of-a-kind quilt.

It is simply amazing to me that there are so many people on the web willing to share wonderful ideas for the rest of us without expecting compensation. I wish I was as clever and talented as they are.

That's what we are here for! I'm sure that you are just as clever as talented as the rest of us!!!

I agree with sewmary how nice people are to share their ideas for free. What also blows me away is when someone makes a request for an idea and finding a pattern, there are so many responses with ideas and links. What a wonderful community this board is!

Thanks I found a pattern calle Dear Chocolate. I think I will make for my daughter. I have a beautiful brown shiny sheet I found at the good will I want to use as the backing. This looks perfect for the front.

I just joined this group myself in December and you quilters on here are so helpful! Plus that quilt is great! If you do find the pattern would love to have it.
