I thought about getting the electric model. I only have use of one arm/hand so the blue wouldn't work for me. A dull blade is so much more work. I think if I had the electric model I would sharpen regularly. In fact I take surveys for extra money. I get "points" and then when I have enough points I redeem them for a gift card. I think with the next one I'm going to get one.

I use the blue one and it helps a little.

I have the electric tru cut model - It is a little pricey (but I looked until I found it on sale), but it does help extend my blade life. I figure if I can get 2-3 more uses out of each blade, then it is well worth it.

I actually wore the sandpaper out on the blue one. It worked if there were no nicks. I replaced my blue one with the Orbitol sharpener which was over twice as much as the blue one and doesn't seem to work as well but there is less chance of cutting your fingers with it. Re-sharpened blades are only about 3/4"s as good as a new blade if you manage to get a good edge. Sometimes they just won't sharpen no matter how many turns you use.

I have the blue one too and have felt satisfied with the sharpening that it gives me. And I'm using the Harbor Freight Blades as well, so a good cost savings all around.

I purchased the blade sharpener online. I make 10-12 quilts a year. I use one blade for batting only
and the others I sharpen after every queen sized equivalent quilt. I found that if I wait until the third quilt it
was too long. I also found that different makers of blades seem to have different weights of steel blades . So
the cheaper ones just need to be sharpened more often

I started out using the blue twisty one and that works to put a quick edge on it, but I bought the electric true-sharp a few month ago and like that a lot better. It really puts a new edge on if you di it right and not just spiff up the edges like the other. Of course it costs more too.

I won a TrueCut blade sharpener. I love it, it really does work. :thumbup:

I also have a Truecut sharpener and love it. I will save enough to pay the price tag by the reduced number of new blades I will need to buy. I also sharpen blades for others at $1 per blade.
