Hi quilters,
I'm wondering if anyone uses plain muslin for quilt backing. With the price of fabric going up, I'm looking for less expensive backings. Thanks, ava |
I have several times, as long as it's not the really thin muslin.

I use muslin all the time. It makes the back of my quilt look like a wholecloth.

i quilt for other's alot- many of them use muslin for their backs.,...i do not- i prefer a print or fabric that (goes with) the quilt over plain/solids. also, when using a solid- muslin or not-
every stitch will show- when using a printed fabric the stitches on the back do not detract |
I love the look of muslin. The only reason I don't use it is because the stitching shows more and my quilting is not the best. If I ever get good at it, I'll use muslin.

I used muslin on my first quilts but changed over. As much time as I spend making the quilt I wanted a pretty back as well. Large scraps blending with the front fabrics probably is my favorite and...I already have them..

I have used muslin on a few quilts I've done, if I can get printed fabric that goes with the top for less, then I use that.

Use good quality muslin for about 90% of my quilt backs.

Using muslin on the back is a great way to make your stash last longer. |
