No I have taken my quilts to a long arm quilter. I just piece the tops and hem the bindings but I still call them my quilts. Others enjoy the hand work and be able to complete the job but I haven't the room or ability to handle the big quilts I make several queen and king size every year. My friend does a beautiful job, quickly and shares lots of patterns and ideas and I have gained much from her help. Please don't tell my family and friends I don't make quilts they love them,

Amen. Life is too short to wrestle a big quilt through the throat of a regular machine. That's not fun, and when something stops being fun, it's time to stop doing it.

Here! Here! I will quilt a twin size but no bigger. I have done a couple of queens but they were not fun. Queens and up go to the LAQ.

My fabumotion came today and I have practcied on it and I just love it. It's better than any thing else I have done as far as free motion is concerned. I've never tried the JOhn Flynn frame and I tihnk it would work, but it takes practice, just like my new toy. I'll post a few pictures of my practice in a few minutes. Have a great day, Huggies, Fay

what is a fabumotion?

I tried rolling and couldn't move the quilt around. Tried puddling and haven't looked back. I also learned (on this board) to turn my machine sideways (with the needle end close to me). This gives you open space for your right hand to move as freely as your left. Just stuff half the quilt into the throat and quilt from the middle out. Then do the other side the same way. It makes it much easier.

I do quilting on my Brother or Singer.

I have a Viking Mega Quilter. Most of the time it is on the frame but in the winter I just sew on a table. It is too cold in my breezeway to sew in the winter & I don't want to heat it because of the cost so I bring the machine in.

I do pieces - would love to purchase a newer machine - trying to save my pennies - Since we are a retired household - we are watching our pennies as well - It's on my dream list of quilting items I want when we win the lottery

Heck no, I have an old 30 year old kenmore, only in my dreams could I get a quilting machine:)
