always wash my fabrics
I always do and there was quite a discussion on this board early about formaldehyde in the fabric and other chemicals and I want to make sure it does not bleed or shrink before I go to all of the work of making the quilt but is up to each individual
I started out prewashing, then I heard some say they didn't prewash, so I stopped. Since I read the article on all the chemicals in the fabric, I now prewash my fabric. It is a little more work, however, I ironed my fabric even when I didn't prewash. I just don't want more chemicals in my system.
It really comes down to personal preference as to how you feel about the chemicals in the fabric. |
I don't.
When I started my quilting lessons I was told by all of our instructors to pre-wash the fabric. We would catch some heat with one of our instructors if it wasn't washed before class.

I never do unless it's flannel Just use color catchers afer quilt is done
I don't most of the times..there are exceptions..from what I've seen on the board it's about 50/50 !! LOL..that may not answer your question..but I have on certain designers (Jinny Beyer) for 1..or a red..I might wash..as a whole I don't !!
Too much trouble to wash and iron it all, so no. Having said that, I have never run into any problems from not prewashing but I know others have. If I ever do, I'll probably learn my lesson the hard way! :)
No, only if I am doing an exchange on the board.
