It Doesn't Really Bother Me

I try very hard for this not to happen, but once in a while the seams on the back go in different directions. As I said it isn't upsetting, since I figure once the whole thing is quilted it is not easily noticed. I wonder if it is because I am always wanting to press to the dark...

Mine do that, I think it happens when sewing rows together and the bottom just naturally folds back when the feed dogs it them. I nest my seams, or try to, but it happens all the time! I just let it go. Like you said, after it is quilted, it doesn't show, especially after washing.

I also press to the dark because threads from the dark seam can really show up in a light fabric. I do go back and fix any twisted seams when I find them in my final pressing. Twisted seams can cause a thread nest when you try to quilt the quilt. I just snip the few stitches at the problem seam and restitch the seam so it will lay flat.

Sometimes I have to do it on purpose and its never bothered me either.

I've had that happen even when pinning and holding. I just clip near the intersecting seam and press the way i wanted it to go. works fine.

I just press it well - if it were a black on white, I might fix it. Not a quilting issue for me, but I quilt on a DSM, not a long arm.

When that happens to me I iron and flatten them with an extra dose of spray starch.

I try so hard to keep the seams in the right direction but they always turn when the rows go together. So I press as best I can from the back and force them into submission. Once it's quilted, nobody can tell. So I leave them.

as hard as i try to plan the seam direction, i get that at least once in every quilt

If I do clip, I clip each seam allowance separately so that they are not in the same place and I will reinforce the cuts with fray-chek. A twisted seam bothers me as much as underwear put on backwards. |
