Your local newspaper may have some suggestions. If you really want to, Oregon City has a "Fill A Stocking, Fill A Heart" project that would welcome contributions! :-)

What about quillos(I think that's how you spell them)? The quilt that folds into a pillow. They could take them over to a friend's house for sleep overs or lounging around the house. My kids wore theirs out:(
