Does anyone know anything about sewing machines made by Domestic Manufacturing? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

According to what I just read, it was absorbed by the White Sewing machine company in 1924 and the name was continued until the mid 1900's. Here's what I was reading: http://www.dincum.com/articles/usa_m...urers_res.html

Here are some pictures. Someone not to long ago was asking what the little round jar in the top drawer is. Did anyone ever figure it out? You can hardly see it here. It has a black cover. someone suggest maybe an ink well.

I don't know anything about this machine though. I don't have a manual. I don't even know how to thread it.

I have a Singer treadly that was my grandmother's.

Oh - I also have these links:

Domestic was a company that made machines for Sears in 1910-1924 although the company was in business before 1910. One of the machines they made for Sears was the Franklin. There is another girl on this group that has the Franklin that we have been chatting about this week as well. Domestic was bought out by the White Company in 1924. Click on Some Thoughts on the Domestic Company to get more history at link below.

In the next link are different models of the Domestic found on webshots.

Wanna know more??? This guy went all out on history of the company.....

Billy - lost51 knows a ton about it. He could probably be able to help you.

Or you can stop on by this thread: http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-43881-1.htm This is the Vintage Sewing Machine thread (I don't know if you've been there, but I'm sure someone can help you thread it!)
