I go through a lot of maxi-pads because I have an elderly male dog. I use them in his "belly band" in case he forgets to let me know he needs to go out. The pads come individually wrapped in a non-woven "fabric" kind of like the dryer sheets I save for piecing and other uses. So, I thought, "Why not? I'll iron one flat..." Bad idea! It melted instantaeously the moment in came in contact with my iron. Luckily, I was able to clean it off by ironing on an old washcloth and the iron's ok. Oh, well! Live and learn!

LOL thanks for the chuckle. Glad your iron is OK.

Oh My! I am glad you were able to get it cleaned off!
Some ideas work, some don't, but we won't give up trying, right

oh i remember ironing cotton shirts of my husbands. even though washed, when the iron hit the under arm area i could smell a difference. I know Billie Lauder makes quilt blks out of shirts but i'd never cut near the under arm area for those.

I'm still trying to picture your dog wearing a maxi pad...

I laughed when I read your post!!! The belly band he wears is a piece of fleece that wraps around and fastens with velcro. I use the maxi pads as liners in case there's an accident. I get the belly bands from Happy Jack Dog Diapers at this website: http://www.bestdogdiapers.com/
They work great, are washable and very long lasting, and Curley doesn't seem to mind them at all. In fact, whenever I put a fresh one on him, he stands still for me just wagging his tail. It's really helped him and us enjoy his old age! BTW: That's him in my avatar (w/o a belly band).
