Many years ago I learned how to kill fly"s with my hand when a swatter is not around. Well don't do it around your sewing. This pestie fly came around and I was going to get that little bugger. Slapped at the fly and forgot that my sewing needle was there. I looked at my hand and saw the eye of the needle and thread hanging out of my finger. The needle went in half way. I then had to pull it out as nobody else was around. Not a club I wanted to be in but it is the second time in my life I have done something so stupid.

Ouch! (Did ya get the fly?)

Rose L 10-18-2011 06:02 PM

Ouch! I hope it doesn't hurt too badly and that it heals quickly.

Rose L 10-18-2011 06:02 PM

Sorry.

All the pain is worth it as long as you got the fly!!

Glad I'm not alone in doing silly things! Hope your hand is OK!

That adds insult to injury!!!

I hope it feels better soon!!

If you carefully get right above them and CLAP...they always fly up. A little less dangerous and it works! LOL! I hope the pain goes away soon.

That sounds painful and I can relate to being a person doing stuff like that or worse. When you sew you have to be prepared to have sore hands with needles around. Hope it gets better quickly. Take care. Sue

That is what I usually do but this time I went to slap it and got the nedle instead.

wvdek 10-18-2011 08:34 PM

Oh poop! Ouch!

Hope you have an updated tetnus shot.

Ouch. I'm sorry. That makes me cringe just thinking about it.

My very favorite ruler is 3" X 24". I used it to swat a fly and the ruler ended up in three pieces. I was able to get another ruler that size made. Now I'm sad to say, that ruler man is no long in business and I can't find anyone that makes rulers to custom sizes. I have since purchased a fly swatter.

My sewing machine is right under a window. I grab the spray starch and zap any flying bug. They fall down immediately.

blueangel 10-18-2011 11:56 PM

Wow that hurts

BETTY62 10-19-2011 12:14 AM

alikat110 10-19-2011 03:38 AM

I wait until they are rubbing their little hands together, my theory being, they can't take off as fast.

MoanaWahine 10-19-2011 04:05 AM

When she first told me this I was doing the same as all of you. I am like what were you thinking!! BTW, johanka happens to be my mom and we talk to each other all the time but live states apart. Now as I am reading this and seeing what everybody is saying, I just chuckle at her for doing this. Trust me, she has learned her lesson and then some. ;)

happynana 10-19-2011 05:13 AM

OUCH! Boy I bet that hurt alot. And after that you got the fly right>?
