Thanks for the tips girls.
One thrifty friend of mine asked me to save scraps and selvages for stuffing homemade pillows forms with. Pretty smart dont you think? I do save the selvage info for future reference and sometimes I give it along with the gift I made for them. It helps them to know how to care for it. |
Um, I collect selvages to stitch together for projects.. first one is to be a purse/tote...then perhaps a jacket.

Check out this blog. She makes wonderful projects with selvages. The Red Zinger quilt is amazing. There are people who actually buy selvages in scrap bags!!

When my grandmother passed away many years ago, we found a huge box of selvage scraps in her closet. We wondered at the time what on earth she used them for.
Then, one of us happened to step out into her vegetable garden, and she had used the strips to tie up her tomato plants. |

Not to mention, they are also good for sewing together! I have never done it myself, but there are books and patterns out there of quilts made completely from selvages!!!
