Double batting
 

A few days ago someone mentioned making a quilt with double batting for added warmth. It got me to thinking about the batting that is used for potholders. It has a lining that reflects heat. Would that not work in a quilt to hold warmth in? Or would it not breathe? Just a thought.

I wouldn't use Isul-brite because the reflective side has a "crinkly" feel and sound. OK for potholders, but not quilts.

and it would cost many, many dollars in a size big enough for a quilt!

there are many choices of batting to use- in various lofts, fibers, and warmth that would be much more 'cost effective' than using insulbright-

I have used double batting in a few quilts that went to N. Michigan, but not Insulbrite. I think it's specifically for objects made to diffuse heat.

When I was in Mexico I helped make a baby quilt. She took a full size batting and folded it in quarters to give it lots of puff! Then we tacked it. Turned out great. I wouldn't use insulbrite though. Merry Christmas!
