Have you ever made a backing for your quilt & it turned into another quilt? I made a 9 patch & when I started the back I made a row of nine patches & then decided I would put rows of them with strips in between-then that looked so good I decided to put applique flowers & vines in the strips-Now I have 2 quilt tops that both need backings. I have never had so many UFO since I started on this board!! Love you guys!!

I do this all the time, on purpose...I call them two sided quilts. LOL. Give it a try.

My most recent was like this - either side could be right side up. DD loved the option of quilt to fit her mood.

every quilt i use a pieced backing for works as a reversable quilt- in my opinion the back should look as good as the front whether it's pieced or whole cloth

Often for backing, I will use a center row of pieced blocks from top to bottom, and a single row of coordinated fabric for the sides.

yep..only once...now I try to really plan my backs so that they are not so much work and won't turn into another TOP...
