I was just reading this tip and I am going to give it a try. Office supply stores are now selling double sided removable tape. You use it instead of pinning, you would place it below the seam line and remove it once your seam is sewn. I was thinking this might work really well for me at the intersections and such when I am trying to match pieces up. It was also recommended for holding that first piece down while paper piecing.

Kayewood has used this technique for many years on her older shows, she had a ¼" double sided tape which she used to make sure her points were all sharp. Have you ever watched any of her shows? Not sure if she offers it as a tip on her website or not.

Thanks Amma, You know I've been looking for some double sided removable tape at the wrong places I guess. I'm going to go to an office supply store now & see if I have better luck. I read the tip awhile back about using double stick tape for the 1st piece in paperpiecing & that would be a great help instead of a pin being in the way of my 1/4" ruler. Thanks again!! :D

I've seen Billie Lauder use that tape for diagonal stitching, it is reusable. The video tutorial was on quilterstv.com I love that website!

How reusable is it? Do you use it for more than one project & if so, how would you store it? On wax paper?

Billie Lauder's Quick Tricks on video she talks about 'tiger tape' ... you can watch the video here, you'll have to search thru the 14 videos, pull down the scroll bar till you find her quick tricks .... about 9 minutes and 45 seconds into the video she demos the tape

love this site, so many instructional videos. The programming changes so if you miss Billie one day, go back and you'll find her another day.

good luck

I would just stick it back on the paper backing that I pulled it off of.

For some reason I was thinking it would be in a roll or dispenser. Is it sticky dots or something like that?

amma 05-06-2008 12:20 PM

The tiger tape is on a roll, and I was thinking the tape from the office supply store would be too. I've bought it before for other things, and it could be easily stuck back on the paper backing. What I am talking about is like a roll of tape, you would cut or tear off the amount that you need.
