I made one of these last year. Here's my album on imgr: http://imgur.com/a/nYsFa and here's the pics of the finale: http://imgur.com/a/OoVLG This was a large queen, and it was a lot of work. I really really liked this method and I sprang for the quiltsmart marked interfacing. I also adjusted the pattern a bit, as I used 2.5" strips and not 3" strips that the pattern called for. You can see the difference in these pictures: http://imgur.com/a/kX3g4 I also made a 2 ring table runner as a test to start, and would recommend that before diving in. I'd offer my templates, but I've already passed them on to another quilter, who is working on their own version. Do spring for the templates, watch her video a couple of times and PM if you have other questions.

Thanks for your input. I thought the strips were a bit wide when I watched the video. Seemed to waste a fair amount of fabric. I'll remember this when I get started. I have the book, and have watched the video several times. Looks do- able! I hope!

I was surprised that even with 2.5 inch strips there was plenty of wiggle room to make the arcs fit. Plus with the quiltsmart method, you don't need to be 100% accurate when sewing the arcs together either. I did contact Quiltsmart because with jelly roll strips a plenty, it seemed obvious to me that someone should be reworking the templates for this for 2.5 inch strips. I was told (this was last September) that they were already working on changing the pattern/instructions. If you have the template just cut one or two arcs the regular way and sew together. I measured down from the top of the wide part of the template and I bet I saved 1/3 yard of fabric of each color I used.

I think this method is totally doable and honestly the end product has just as much wow as one done the other way. I'm not the best sewer/quilter and I did it!

I took a class on the DWR using this method and did a few blocks and gave up. I found it difficult.

I am making one using this method. I did not make a runner first, just jumped right in as usual. I am making a queen size. I am finishing piecing the last group of arcs today. I hope to start sewing them to the interfacing tomorrow. This is a quilt that hubby talked me into. It is very time consuming and I am a little bored already. He keeps asking when it will be done. I said by July.....2020! LOL! I will keep you posted.

I have made three DWR quilts following the instructions from EB. One queen and two lap size. It is time consuming but well worth using the fusible. I agree that u may want to start with the table runner. Good luck and have fun.

I've made three dwr quilts, two queens size but used templates. Fun to make but definitely have to sew slow. Not for speed piecing.

http://slightlyoffquilter.com/tutori...-wedding-ring/ Looks like an easier way to make this quilt, I have printed it out but not done it yet.

I started a huge king size quilt using her method. Made several blocks her way and it was way to much work for me. I didn't use strips but cut all the pieces,it the, together in arcs. Ironed them to fusible web and did blanket stitch to appliqué them. They laid flatter. I think her way makes the edges clean, but SO MUCH WORK. Found I wasn't enjoying it but needed to do king size as wedding gift. I took the "easy" way out!

Thanks, Carol34446. I printed the pattern/templates, also. I don't make show quilts - only quilts for general use and this looks much easier and just as pretty. If anyone wants to buy my EB Egg Money book I will sell it for half price ($15.00) plus shipping. It has never been used and all the templates are still attached to the pages in the book. I don't know how much shipping would be but it is a heavy book. PM me if interested.
