Double Wedding Ring Quilt Question
Has anyone made the Double Wedding Ring quilt by Cheryl Phillips from her book Rings That Bind and
if so does the template come with the book? Did you like making this quilt and quilting block by block this way? Any information would be helpful. I saw the video with Kay Wood but it seems to be older and not much information available. The video is found at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfifwcg8IJ4 |
According to her website, the arc comes with the book http://phillipsfiberart.danemcoweb.c...ngs-that-bind/ I have the set, but haven't even begun to think about doing it yet! Cheryl is a great lady and is always willing to help with questions. I have emailed her a couple of times and always got a speedy reply!

Yes the Arc comes with the book. I bought it when she made the reprint but it's sitting in the pile of my to do items:o

Do the arcs in a double wedding ring have to be pieced? Or can they be made all one color - all one fabric?

And thanks for the info on the arc ruler being included in the book. |
Remember making this pattern using Rings That Bind uses a lot of fabric. Be sure and check the yardage requirements for each size before you begin. Here is the yardage chart:
One color rings: Queen - 31 yards of fabric King - 35 yards of fabric Two color rings Queen - 27 yards if fabric King - 31 yards of fabric Two color family rings Queen - 28 yards of fabric King- 31 yards of fabric I made a King size one for a friend. It is easy but I got very bored with it before I finished. The good thing is when you are done, the quilt is done, no basting or quilting needed. I plan on making another one but will do a block in between other projects. I would suggest you make a practice couple of rings and use thin batting. |
Yes, I have done that quilt. I was pleased it went so quickly and looked great when finished.
I did it in a class at a LQS. It was funny because anyone who saw the book cover didn't like the quilt. Once they saw the materials those few of us who took the class used, they were wishing they had signed up too. Too bad they didn't look in the book and were so put off by the cover. The template did come with the book. |
Thank you, I think I'll go ahead and order it. I really liked the way when it's finished it's quilted too. It looks like fun and the possibilities of making the center different by applique, fussy cut's or whatever could be interesting to do to make it your own.

Before you purchase anything, please look into QuiltSmart. Fellow quilters have made this quilt with no templates, they say it is supposed to be fast and easy. I know our local quilt shop carries it, Quilters Common in Wakefield, MA.
