I vaguely recall reading a thread here (which I can't find, and it was before I knew to bookmark useful info) about using 4 dowels to keep a quilt taut for wall hanging. I think (but am not sure) you are supposed to sew a triangle on each corner of the back so that you can insert dowels at the top, bottom, and each side (you might have to tack in the triangle to keep the vertical and horizontal dowels separate?). You would also use a sleeve for the top to keep it from drooping (well, maybe not needed).

Does anyone know this technique?

I remember reading about that. I tried it but still prefer the sleeve and one dowel.

I can't find the thread, but I found the pic I posted in it. I have sewn 4 triangles & used 4 dowels cut to fit for keeping a bigger wall hanging taut. Hope this helps.
