Downy quilts for kids offer - or use your stash.

Downy has a program "quilts for kids" at this web site http://www.quiltsforkids.org/patterns/request/. They will supply a kit, or use your stash. (this may be a way to reduce your stash). It seems that they need boy type quilts, and I am psyched. I have so much scraps/stash that I will be making some quilts to donate. If you have it in your heart, please join in and make a quilt. Think of the impact if each QB member made and donated just one quilt. Anyone want to join me in this? For quilters who are limited in their stash, they will provide a quilt kit!!! Anyone interested?

I have made these before - with their kits and with fabric I bought especially for them - and I know lots of others on here also do this. It's a very good thing!! Good for you!

i make generally 4 quilts a month for downey quilts for kids- have been for 2+ years now- once in a while i order a new kit just for something different- then i make 2 or 3 more out of my stash to send back with the one from the kit.

sounds like a great idea, but I just tie my quilts.

I've been making these for almost a year. Have two that just need laundered and they will be shipped. Great organization!

I make QFKs also...and use my stash to send extras as well.

Another QFK sewer here. They do have explicit rules, but that is because the quilts go to hospitals and get washed daily in commercial washers. Their kits are really cute and bright. They really do need quilts for boys and teens, so if your stash has some good selections it is a fun way to use it.

From reading thread upon thread, I think most of us already do charity quilts. But thank you for one more link.
