Dream Big One Block Wonder

1 Attachment(s)
I've finished putting the top together for my Dream Big One Block Wonder (my first OBW). I cut the panel strips at 3 3/4". The quilt is 110" x 104" and is intended for our king bed. I plan to try to quilt it on my DSM. I've done 3 queens on that and I figure it's only a little bit bigger . I used strips from the 7th panel in the border and then cut some small hexies from what I had left and placed them in the border as well. They aren't not sewn on yet and I'd love to hear your opinions on if I should leave them or take them off. Thanks for looking!

Very pretty. And I like those hexis scattered on the border

I have used that panel several times and I love it, but it would never have occurred to me to use it for a One Block Wonder. But yours is gorgeous! The hexagons are subtle but flow together beautifully.

You have inspired me. That is just beautiful, my eyes tell me the hexi's should stay. I have a Dream Big panel, always dreamed, notice I say dreamed of doing the beautiful quilting on it as I have seen at many shows, I am in Awe of them. But your OBW has inspired me to change my mind. Thank you for sharing.

Extraordinary use of that panel. It will be stunning on a bed.

Love, love, love your quilt! Love the way you split the panel for the border. The scattered hexies are an added bonus. Inspiring!

Oh, my! This is absolutely beautiful.

Tish05 04-22-2020 09:16 AM

Thanks for the lovely comments everyone. The little hexies will stay. Now I just have to figure out how to quilt it....

QuiltMom2 04-23-2020 04:02 AM

I've quilted all over arcs along the seams of the hexies, which might be a good starting point. Feathers on that border for sure. Please post when it's done!

julybaby8 04-23-2020 04:27 AM

It’s beautiful the way it is!

When you quilt the arcs, does it end up looking like flower petals inside the hexies? I was thinking of trying something like that since the majority of the quilt is made from a flower design. And feathers... oh man I'm going to have to do some practicing!
